I am very disappointed to hear that RTS will be reducing its On Demand service to our community beginning this September, no longer operating on weekends or past 8 p.m. on weeknights.
For many residents, RTS has been more than just a transportation option—it has been a vital connection to employment opportunities in Rochester, educational programs at MCC, medical appointments, and activities that enrich the lives of individuals and families throughout our region. Reliable and accessible transportation is essential to the success and well-being of our communities. The reduction of this service will create significant challenges for many residents who depend on it every day.
I encourage RTS and regional leaders to continue exploring solutions that maintain transportation access for those who rely on these services. Our residents deserve dependable transportation options that connect them to jobs, education, healthcare, and opportunities beyond our community.
