Local Concerns
College Speaker
This is a comment on the article about those protesting against SUNY Brockport for hosting a talk by a man who was convicted of killing 2 police officers. The objections expressed are understandable and emotionally powerful.
In this country we are fortunate to have the right of free speech; this is a valued and sometimes controversial privilege, as shown in the reaction to this speaker. However, he also has the right to speak and the college has given him that opportunity. It is more dangerous when we try to silence the voices of those we disagree with or do not want to hear.
