Village of Brockport

I have been walking through the Village of Brockport all my life and a taxpayer for 40 years. While walking through the village for years . As I walk , I see a lot of what goes on in the village.

I have noticed that the village has become old, run down, and neglected for years and in some cases decades. It seems to be getting worse.

I am going to list a few , but there are many more, First, there are asphalt curbs throughout half of the village. This is what was used in the 70’s. There should be updated to concrete . Next , are the public sidewalks throughout the village , are in terrible condition. There are tripping hazards and tree roots heaving sidewalks. I have been notifying the code enforcement and village board. The public sidewalks have many obstructions . There are hedges, bushes, weeds, grass on sides of sidewalks and tree limbs hanging into the path of sidewalks. There is a code that states a public sidewalk has to remain totally open , from bottom to top, for pedestrians including elderly, people with walkers and wheelchairs. I have notified the code enforcement and village leadership about the condition of sidewalks since August of 2021. Next is the municipal parking lots are filled with potholes. Next , many of the black , used to be black, street lights downtown are faded and in many occasions it’s down to bare metal. A few lights , there are wires hanging out of access door at bottom. Another , problem is the railings throughout the village around creeks and on
