Dennis A. Pelletier Youth Hall of Fame

27th Annual Induction Ceremony May 13

The Spencerport Area Chamber of Commerce has named Emma Charron and Katie Chesher as the two students to be inducted into the Dennis A. Pelletier Youth Hall of Fame during a ceremony on Wednesday, May 13, at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room of the Ogden Town Hall. This award directs special attention to those youths who have demonstrated, through contributions to the community and outstanding achievements, their personal growth and development.

Now in its 27th year, the Dennis Pelletier Youth Hall of Fame is sponsored by Spencerport Federal Credit Union and Spencerport Area Chamber of Commerce.

Emma Charron
Emma is an individual whose actions truly reflect genuine intentions. Emma demonstrates exceptional care and consideration for others. At school, she conducts herself with such poise and resilience. Emma is proof that after suffering a devastating loss and a key element of her life, one can persevere and be giving to others.

Teacher and nominator Philip Gerhardt said, “Emma’s attention to her schoolwork reflected pride in a job well done versus a job simply done.” And “Emma ranks in the Top 5 in terms of enthusiasm for volunteerism.” This attitude has served Emma well to succeed in school, but more importantly, to succeed in life.

Emma is a role model who participates in the Spencerport High School Service Club, assisting others as one of the leaders of that organization. She volunteers countless hours helping others and encourages her peers to do the same.

Emma has a great spirit and compassion for those she helps.

Emma’s mother is Wendy Charron.

Katie Chesher
Katie is a compassionate young individual with a quiet strength who has navigated challenging periods throughout her life with maturity, leading her to develop strong, healthy coping strategies to support her well-being.  Despite these challenges, Katie maintains a rigorous academic schedule and, more importantly, has developed an ability to understand others on a meaningful level, which has fueled her commitment to help those in need.

Counselor and nominator Jamie Miner said, “Katie is a remarkable young woman whose compassion, resilience, and integrity have made a lasting impact on our school community.”  And “Though naturally reserved, she forms authentic connections built on trust, kindness, and thoughtful perspective.”  This attitude has served Katie well as she exhibits care for others and a true love of learning.

Katie is an active athlete who has previously served as the captain of both the softball and volleyball teams during her time at Churchville-Chili High School. In addition to her athletic commitments, Katie also participates in several clubs and honor societies and is a dependable team-oriented member.

Outside of her school community, Katie is a devoted follower of Christ. She regularly volunteers her time to assisting her church, while supporting her community through her service at The Life Center’s Food Pantry. Her leadership, understanding, and dedication to others will serve her well as she pursues a career in nursing.

Katie’s mother is Tracy Burns.
