DANCE/Strasser at SUNY Brockport Features Student Choreography Debuts
The Department of Dance at SUNY Brockport presents performances of DANCE/Strasser on Thursday, October 29, through Saturday, October 31, in the Rose L. Strasser Studio in Hartwell Hall on the Brockport campus. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m.
Artistic Director and Assistant Professor of Dance Heather Acomb says the concert is a beautiful mix of first-time and returning undergraduate student choreographers, including Sofia Bianco, Gillian Bliss, Rebecca Dyckman, Autum Gardner, Bella Gibeault, Olivia Grier, Cole Karnisky, Morgan O’Bryan, Gianna Santivenere, and Kailey Tkazyik. The students are exploring connection, joy and angst, storytelling, and the use of props. The works are incredibly varied, ranging from athletically driven to musical, gestural, playful, and even postmodern performance art.
After each performance, there will be a short, moderated talk-back session with different student choreographers.
Ticket prices for all performances are $20 general, $15 for seniors, SUNY Brockport alumni, faculty, and staff, and $ 9 for students, and are available online at fineartstix.brockport.edu, by phone at 585-395-2787, or at the Tower Fine Arts Center Box Office, 180 Holley Street, Brockport.
