Clarkson teen is Kids Speak Up Advocate

Nicky Cappadonia is a 2013-14 Epilepsy Foundation of America’s National Kids Speak Up Advocate. He is one of 37 teenagers serving in the role. As an advocate, he has opportunities to meet with lawmakers on every level of government to discuss the needs of people with epilepsy.

Nicky was diagnosed in 2012 with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, a rare and severe form of the disease and with help from his family he has written a story about his interesting experiences. He recently had a chance to share his story with staff and students at Brockport High School, and at Cornerstone Christian Academy. Nicky is a tenth grade Special Ed student at Brockport High School, and also attends the Work Activity Center at Monroe #2-Orleans BOCES in Spencerport.

The Cappadonia family resides in Clarkson.
