St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Brockport, will be celebrating the Lenten and Easter season with traditional Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday service. Leading Palm Sunday services will be The Rt. Rev. Dr. Prince G. Singh, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester. “We are honored that Bishop Singh has chosen to celebrate Palm Sunday services at St. Luke’s. His presence is always a joy as he brings inspiring and uplifting messages,” said Bill Plews, rector’s warden and member of St Luke’s vestry.

Dr. Singh, who has served as the Eighth Bishop of the Rochester Episcopal Diocese since 2008, is a member of the Board of Trustees of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School and a member of the Board of Directors of Episcopal SeniorLife Communities in Rochester. He is a member of the Board of Trustees at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, and serves in various capacities in the national Episcopal Church.

St. Luke’s Maundy Thursday celebration begins at 6 p.m. with a simple Agape Meal of soups and bread, followed by a worship service led by Rev. Padric Collins-Bohrer. Good Friday services begin at 7 p.m. and will be led by Rev. Mary Ann Brody, who will also lead Easter Sunday services, beginning at 9 a.m. Palm Sunday services are at 9 a.m.

“St. Luke’s is blessed to have such gifted and spirit-inspired priests serving while St. Luke’s continues its search for a permanent priest, following the retirement of long-time rector The Rev. Krista Cameron,” said Plews.

St. Luke’s has a long history of supporting the greater Brockport community through worship and service. The Brockport Ecumenical Food Shelf and Clothing Center are both hosted at St. Luke’s. Luke’s Layettes helps new mothers and babies, providing layettes and other items to area moms in need. Harvest Kitchen, which is held the second Sunday of the month, is an opportunity for the community to come together to share a meal and fellowship.
