Holiday events at the Nazareth College Arts Center

It’s time to celebrate the holiday season, and the Nazareth College Arts Center presents a series of festive events to warm your heart and brighten your spirits.

Angelina Ballerina The Very Merry Holiday Musical, presented by professional touring company Vital Theater, on Saturday, November 30 at 2 p.m. in Callahan Theater. Based on characters from the bestselling book series, Angelina Ballerina The Very Merry Holiday Musical follows the dancing mouse Angelina, along with her mouse friends. By working together, the friends discover the true spirit of the season is not about things you receive, but the holiday cheer you share. Tickets $15 to $20.

It’s a Wonderful Life: Live from WVL Radio Theatre, on Saturday, December 7 at 8 p.m. in Callahan Theater. Presented by Immediate Theatre Project, a professional touring theatre company, this wildly funny play follows a radio station’s skeleton crew as they attempt to present It’s a Wonderful Life live on-air in the midst of a Christmas Eve blizzard. A four-member company conquers multiple characters and sound effects as the story of George Bailey and Bedford Falls unfolds. Tickets $25 to $50. Sponsored in part by St. John’s

The Marvelous Wonderettes, a musical based on all-female singing groups from the 1950s and 60s, presented by the Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department in Studio Theater A48 from December 6 through 8. Featuring more than 30 pop songs from that era, this off-Broadway hit takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts. The second act reunites the girls 10 years later, where they learn that no matter what life throws their way, they will conquer it together. Performances are Friday, December 6, at 8 p.m.; Saturday, December 7 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, December 8, at 2 p.m. Tickets $7. Partial proceeds to benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital.

•The Nazareth College School of Music will present a free program of festive music at the Rose Marie and John Beston Annual Holiday PRISM Concert on Sunday, December 8 at 3 p.m. in Beston Hall in the Jane and Laurence Glazer Music Performance Center. Following a traditional prism concert format, Nazareth’s large and small ensembles will be set up throughout Beston Hall, performing various works one right after the other. The concert will feature the Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Singers, Brass Ensemble, a saxophone ensemble, a woodwind ensemble, a violin quartet, a guitar quartet, and a jazz combo.

•The Capitol Steps, a Washington D.C.-based comedy troupe that began as a group of U.S. Senate staffers, returns to the Arts Center to present a show based on their 2019 album The Lyin’ Kings on Tuesday, December 31, at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in Callahan Theater. Featuring new parody songs with titles like “Tweet It,” “It’s My Party (and I’ll Lie if I Want To),” and “Modern Major Liberal,” this adamantly bipartisan comedy troupe takes the latest headlines and turns them into an evening of satire. Tickets $45 to $75. Sponsored in part by Margaret R. Colacino.

Tickets are available online at artscenter.naz.edu, by phone at 389-2170, or in person at the Nazareth College Arts Center Box Office, 4245 East Avenue, Rochester. Free events do not require advance tickets or reservations.
