RRH Breaks Ground on Major Expansion at Unity Campus

Lipson Cancer Institute Expansion and New Outpatient Imaging Center Enhance Access, Coordination, and Patient Experience
On April 9, Rochester Regional Health (RRH) announced the start of construction on an $8.9 million-expansion of oncology services at the Lipson Cancer Institute at Unity, designed to improve access to timely cancer treatment. RRH is also creating a $12 million state-of-the-art outpatient imaging center in the Unity Professional Office Building. Together, these investments reflect RRH’s continued commitment to delivering high-quality, coordinated, and convenient care for patients across the region.
“This investment is about building the future of care for our community,” said Richard “Chip” Davis, PhD, Chief Executive Officer of Rochester Regional Health.“By expanding cancer services and expanding comprehensive imaging capabilities at Unity, we are strengthening our ability to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care closer to home.”
The expansion of the Lipson Cancer Institute will double infusion capacity from 10 to 20 bays and introduce a dedicated oncology pharmacy, enabling more efficient, streamlined treatment. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
“Expanding infusion capacity and adding a dedicated oncology pharmacy allows us to care for more patients while also improving the efficiency and coordination of treatment,” said Jeffrey Haynes, MD, Executive Medical Director of Cancer Services.“This project reflects a focused investment in the clinical environment and care teams that support patients throughout their treatment journey.”
The new outpatient imaging facility will provide a full suite of diagnostic imaging services, including MRI, CT, DEXA, X-ray, mammography, and ultrasound. Scheduled to open in late 2026, the center will improve access to advanced diagnostics and support more seamless, coordinated care.
“Access to timely, high‐quality imaging is essential to accurate diagnosis and coordinated care,” said Adam Zinkin, MD, Chief of Diagnostic Imaging.“This new outpatient imaging center will expand access to advanced diagnostic services at Unity and support closer alignment between imaging, oncology, and other specialty care.”
Construction will officially begin on April 27, 2026. During construction, patients will continue to enter the Professional Office Building via the rear entrance.
