May Programs at Genesee Country Village & Museum

Genesee Country Village & Museum begins its 2026 high season on Saturday, May 2, followed by a jam-packed season of fairs and festivals, daily programming, and exciting new exhibits. Spanning over 600 scenic acres, GCV&M invites visitors of all ages to explore its Historic Village, world-class Gallery, and immersive Nature Center or attend one of the special programs offered throughout the month. Antiques and Artisans Show May 2, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
GCV&M welcomes dealers from around the region with both fine and primitive 19th-century wares to 20th-century vintage. Plus, shop for handcrafted goods by local artisans and explore all the museum has to offer.
Upstairs Downstairs After-Hours Tours May 8, May 9, May 22, and May 23, 5 to 8:30 p.m.
During this tour, Museum professionals provide behind-the-scenes insights into working at the museum, as well as special access to the upstairs and downstairs of historic buildings – something most visitors don’t get to see.
Mother’s Day at GCV&M May 10, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Interpreters in the historic village will showcase tasks and activities reflective of 19th-century life for mothers. Moms receive free admission to the Historic Village.

Mother’s Day Brunch May 10, 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Celebrate Mom’s special day with delectable brunch favorites, vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free options, a cash bar, and more. Savor a delicious meal in the museum’s Meeting Center dining room, then head out into the Historic Village to explore all of the daily happenings.
Landmarks & Lunch Trolley Tour May 14 and May 21, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This guided trolley tour of the museum is great for visitors of all ages and will be followed by a light lunch. Each ticket includes all-day admission to the museum.
War! What is it Good For? Homeschool Day May 15, 2 to 4 p.m.
During the 19th-century, the young United States was involved in multiple conflicts, including the War of 1812 and the Civil War. Learn how these nationwide events impacted Western New York. This tour is for ages 8-18.

1812: The Genesee Valley at War May 16 and May 17, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The War of 1812 is considered the “Second War for Independence,” as the young United States fought from the East Coast to the Mississippi River. Explore the impact this war had on the citizens of Western New York.
Night at the Museum May 16-17, 5 p.m. to 10 a.m.
Enjoy a fun-filled “Night at the Museum.” Bring a bagged dinner for the evening, then stop by the 19th-century tavern for family-friendly beverages, treats, and historical games. Before camping out for the night, attend a guided tour in the 19th-century Village, and enjoy a campfire to roast marshmallows. In the morning, there will be breakfast and coffee before a morning trail hike.
GCV&M’s Official 50th Anniversary May 22, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
GCV&M opened to the public on May 22, 1976, and is celebrating 50 years later with special tours, evening hours, ways to share your memories of the museum, and, of course, cake.
MacKay Luncheon, May 23 and May 24, 12 to 2 p.m.
Enjoy a menu celebrating the vibrance of the season while being pampered in the elegant, inviting atmosphere of the picturesque MacKay home. After your meal, listen to GCV&M staff discuss history and stories of the museum. The menu includes chilled gazpacho, pastry-wrapped brie with apricots and almonds, strawberry chicken spring salad, rolls and honey butter, and lemon tarts.
History on Tap, May 29, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Sample local craft beers, wines, and ciders at this happy hour like no other. Live music, food, and after-hours access to the museum all make for a fun and unique night out with friends. This is a 21+ event.
