Brockport Village Election June 16

The Brockport Village Election will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from noon to 9 pm at the Brockport Village Municipal Building, 49 State Street, Brockport. Two candidates are vying for one open Trustee position to serve a two-year term from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2028. There are also two candidates running for two Village Justice seats, each to serve a four-year term from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2030. Additionally, voters will be asked to decide whether or not the Village Court should be abolished.
CANDIDATES FOR VILLAGE TRUSTEE
Scott W. Hunsinger is a 28-year resident of Brockport. He proudly resides in the heart of the village with his wife, Kory, and their daughter, Julia. Hunsinger is a teacher in the Rochester City School District, teaching third and fourth grade at the Montessori School in the 19th Ward. He previously served on the Village Board of Brockport from 2008 to 2012. He is currently the President of the Board of Trustees of the Morgan-Manning House Museum, which is undertaking a massive rebuild due to the fire in January of 2025. Hunsinger is also an active member of the Brockport Lions Club, having previously served as the Vice President, President, and Past President. He looks forward to serving the village of Brockport again if elected.

Sandeep Singh is a 33-year resident of the village, during which time he has been a Professor of Finance at SUNY Brockport. For the past year, he has served as an appointed trustee on the Village Board. As part of the Budget Committee, the village tax increase was well below the cap for the first time in many years. Singh is also part of the water/sewer study team that is recommending a significant decrease in water/sewer rates for Brockport residents. He wants to promote a culture of fiscal discipline across all village operations, while focusing his efforts on improving village infrastructure, primarily water/sewer and recreational areas. With the help of downtown merchants, Singh wants the village to play a larger role in downtown revitalization. While he is proud of the engaged village citizenry, he would like more civility in the discourse. Singh promises to lead by example.

CANDIDATES FOR VILLAGE JUSTICE
William G. Andrews moved to Brockport in 2001 to be closer to family and to accommodate a growing family. He watched his parents, Bill Sr. and Monika, give their time generously to the Brockport community. In 2014, Andrews was elected Justice in the newly formed Brockport Village Court. As the first Village Justice to preside in Brockport, Andrews feels a special bond with the Court and the community. He says, “I still recall the words of a mentor who told me that every defendant appearing before me is someone’s son, daughter, mother, or father. Similarly, I understand as a Brockport resident the need to apply the law impartially and consistently.” Andrews brings experience from a 40-year career in healthcare, mostly as an executive in Finance and Information Technology. He has a master’s from the Simon Business School, and he and his wife, Alison, own Arjuna Florists on Main Street.

Christopher R. Martin is a lifelong village resident with many years of community involvement. In high school, Martin joined the Boy Scouts and the Brockport Fire Explorers before becoming a firefighter in 1975. He is the Public Information Officer for the department. He joined the Ambulance Corps in 1976 and served as an EMT for 30 years. A former Deputy Mayor, Judge Martin was appointed in 2017 and took the bench in January 2018 after completing judicial training in Albany. Elected in 2018 and reelected in 2022, he is running for a third term. As a judge, Martin hears criminal and civil cases, evictions, parking complaints, and village code violations. He strives to administer justice with integrity, honesty, and a commitment to fairness for all. He has lectured at Monroe Community College, the University of Rochester’s Simon School of Business, and Brockport Central Schools, and welcomes student interns to the courtroom.

PROPOSITION
Voters will be asked to decide on one proposition: “Shall the Brockport Village Court be abolished effective June 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.?” A yes vote is to abolish the Village Court. A no vote will be to keep the Village Court.
