Second Spencerport resident announces run for mayoral position

Anna Sapienza has announced her candidacy for Mayor of the Village of Spencerport, where she has resided with her husband, James, and raised her three children. According to a press release for the announcement, Mrs. Sapienza is considered a respected and passionate educator as well as a natural leader. She recently retired from the Spencerport School District as Coordinator of Special Education. “I am confident that many of the leadership skills and problem-solving abilities that I’ve excelled in will transfer to my new role as a community leader,” Mrs. Sapienza said. “I feel strongly that it is time to give back to the community that I love,” she added. 

According to the press release, Mrs. Sapienza’s vision is to offer an active, collaborative, and transparent leadership. “I offer my efforts, energy, and a fresh perspective to strive for the betterment of our village. I see new vibrancy, renovations, and improvements in our future. I look forward to working with business owners, community leaders, and village residents to accomplish these goals,” she said. 

The village election will be held on March 16. Mrs. Sapienza is running against incumbent Mayor Gary Penders for a four-year term.
