Hilton-Parma Senior Center offerings

The Hilton-Parma Senior Center is located in the Hilton Community Center, 59 Henry Street, right in the village, and has a lot to offer community seniors.

Those looking to enjoy nutritious meals, good company, and a friendly atmosphere are welcome to dine at “The Hilton” Senior Center as it partners with Monroe County to provide weekly lunches on Tuesdays. A reservation for lunch needs to be made in advance by calling 392-9030. For those who are interested, Bingo follows the lunch program from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Bingo participants are encouraged to bring loose change.

Two different types of transportation service are available for seniors residing within the Town of Parma, allowing for greater independence:

•Center Transportation – Town drivers are available to transport seniors within Parma to and from the Senior Center on Tuesdays for lunch and Bingo and for monthly Evening Meals for a cost of $2 round-trip.

•Shopping Transportation – Wednesdays are set aside for transporting seniors living within the Town of Parma to pre-determined destinations. Locations include Walmart, Aldi, The Christmas Tree Shop, Ollie’s, Dollar Tree, Goodwill/Salvation Army, and more for the cost of $2 round-trip. The transport leaves the Senior Center at 9:30 a.m. to pick up those who are signed up for that week and takes them to shop at the weekly destination. The group then goes to a diner for lunch afterwards, with everyone paying for their own meal.

Another program that occurs once a month, typically on the last Wednesday of the month, is the Evening Meal and a Show. The program offers a fun evening of food, entertainment, and friends. The next evening meal is on March 23. It will be a corned beef dinner and feature Irish entertainer Peg Dolan. The dinners are catered by Foster’s Restaurant. Space is limited and the reservation deadline is Friday, March 18.

Other programs offered at the Hilton-Parma Senior Center include crafts, card games, mahjong, euchre, jigsaw puzzle swap, film Wednesdays, and chair yoga (starting March 8).

Program information can be found in the Senior Center Newsletter which can be emailed to those who request it.  Hard copies are also available and can be mailed or picked up at the Senior Center office. For more information or to register, contact the staff at the Hilton-Parma Senior Center at 392-9030.
