Longterm lane reductions and crossover traffic on NY-390 at Lexington Avenue

The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists of long term lane closures and crossovers for northbound traffic along NY-390 at Lexington Avenue to accommodate a pavement and bridge rehabilitation project.

Beginning at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, motorists heading north on NY-390 will be crossed over to the southbound lanes prior to Lexington Avenue and will be crossed back over to the northbound lanes once past Lexington Avenue. Traffic in both the northbound and southbound directions will be reduced to two lanes before arriving at Lexington Avenue. This work is scheduled to last no later than Thursday, September 8.

Crossovers are utilized to allow crews to rehabilitate the bridge carrying NY-390 over Lexington Avenue more freely and effectively while the bridge is not being used by motorists.

This work marks the first of six bridge rehabilitations that NYSDOT announced earlier this year as part of a larger transformative pavement and bridge rehabilitation project. Additional crossovers and lane reductions are anticipated in coming months to accommodate the remaining bridge work. NYSDOT will provide updated traffic patterns and anticipated schedule as work progresses.

The entire project is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2023. All construction activities are weather dependent.
