Bash at the Beach celebrates 100 years of NYS Parks system

Rain forced the rescheduling of the Bash at the Beach, celebrating 100 years of the NYS Parks system, from Saturday to Sunday, June 30. The family-friendly event at Hamlin Beach State Park started with a ribbon cutting ceremony for the park’s new mobi-mats, portable, roll-out mats that give beach access to those with mobility assistance devices. The Friends of Hamlin Beach received a grant of $30,000 through Parks and Trails New York for these mats and helped raise and gather donations for the remaining amount. The event also included nature outings, food, a sandcastle competition for kids, the Empire Jeep show, live music, fireworks, and more.
