Linda DuBois

•DuBois, Linda (Burns), Age 73, of Spencerport, and Spring Hill, Florida, peacefully on July 26, 2014 in Spring Hill, Florida. Born March 12, 1941, in Rochester, NY to the late Phyllis and Richard Burns, Linda grew up in Irondequoit, NY and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1959. Her college years took her to SUNY Potsdam (Class of 1963) where she earned her teaching degree, and her student teaching was done in Lowville, NY.

Linda taught elementary school for over 30 years, from Webster, NY to Fort Wayne, Indiana, before settling into Terry Taylor Elementary School (formerly Town Line Elementary School) in Spencerport, where she taught 4th grade (and 5th grade for a few years) for over 25 years. Many of Spencerport’s finest passed through her classroom.

Upon retirement, Linda travelled extensively through Europe, the Panama Canal, the Canadian Maritimes and Alaska, often with her family and cousin, Karen, and dear friend, Donna. Linda volunteered for many causes and local organizations/projects she believed in – from Spencerport Sports Boosters when her daughter, Lisa, was in high school, Wedgewood Nursing Home with her dear friend Maryalice, and Canal Days Craft Show and Rotary functions with her husband. She was involved and cared about her community, and was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by Spencerport Rotary Club. She loved to socialize with friends and family and her contagious laughter, quick wet and compassion will be remembered by many.

In addition to her recent residences, Linda spent many summers in Balm Beach, Ontario, Cananda with her Canadian family – this was always a very special place for her family. She loved to share Balm Beach with friends and many treasured memories were made there.

Survivors include: husband of 49 years, Richard DuBois, of Spencerport, and Spring Hill, Florida; daughter, Lisa DuBois Headley (Phil); grandson, William Headley, of Falls Church, Virginia; sister, Kathleen Burns, of Rochester; and many loving friends and extended family.

The family requests that donations be made in her name to The Rotary Foundation, 14280 Collections Center Drive, Chicago, IL 60693 or HPH Hospice Foundation, Donation Department, 12107 Majestic Boulevard, Hudson, Florida 34667-2455. Condolences and memories may be left atwww.DowningFuneralHm.net.

A private service will be held, followed by a celebration of her life at The Union Street Eatery, Union Street, Spencerport on September 15, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m.
