Brockport discusses funds for environmental, park use

At the sixth annual Recognition Dinner held by the Monroe County Fire Chiefs Association, the Brockport Fire Department received the unit commendation award for its combined efforts to save lives and reduce the ravages of fire when the home at 42 High Street in the Village of Brockport was on fire on May 16, 2006. more

Hamlin budget shows increase, no raises for elected officials
The Town of Hamlin's preliminary budget shows a total budget increase of 6.5 percent over the current year's budget, but the tax rates will reflect only a 1.78 percent increase. more

Kendall receives grant
The Town of Kendall was awarded a $15,000 grant to fund the purchase and installation of an emergency generator system for the town hall. The equipment will provide for the needs at the town hall during emergency situations and for shelter requirements, according to Kendall Supervisor William Vick. more

Portions of Brockport and all of
Orleans County weathers snow storm

Close to 80 percent of all households in the Orleans County area were without electricity and heat - many for up to three days - during the freak snowstorm that hit the area on Friday, October 13. more

Youth earns Eagle Scout rank
Craig Holland from Bergen Troop 31 has earned the Eagle Scout Award. This prestigious award represents the highest level of achievement in skill, in service, and in leadership in the Boy Scouts of America Program. He is a junior at Byron-Bergen High School. more

Cadets overpower Olympia, fall to Eagles in Section V Quarterfinals
On October 7, the Hilton Cadets Varsity Football Team traveled to Greece Olympia for their final regular season game. The Cadets and Spartans battled back and forth in the first quarter until Olympia's quarterback, Joe LaCarte, crossed the goal line on a one-yard run with 2:54 left in the quarter. more

Hilton-Parma Recreation organizes Ski Club
Hilton-Parma Recreation is gearing up for another snow filled season of Ski Club, with six dates booked for both the Jr. and Sr. Ski Clubs. New this year is the opportunity to ski at both Swain and Bristol. The Jr. Ski Club includes children in grades 7 and 8. While the Sr. Ski Club takes children that are in grades 9-12. more

Junior Achievement bowlathon ready to roll
Nearly 1,000 bowlers, representing more than 25 companies and organizations, are expected to participate on one of five alternate dates on November 3, 4, 7, 8 or 10 in the Junior Achievement bowlathon. more
