School budget and board election results

Brockport Central School District

The proposed budget of $89,417,493 was approved with 603 votes in favor and 379 opposed. Jeffrey Harradine was reelected to serve a five-year term on Brockport’s Board of Education.

Byron-Bergen Central School District

District residents voted to pass the 2022-2023 budget. Proposition #1 – 2022-2023 School Budget passed with a vote of 244 to 98. Proposition #2 – Acquisition of School Buses passed with a vote of 252 to 89. Proposition #3 – School Vehicle Reserve Fund passed with a vote of 245 to 95.

Three members were elected to the Board of Education for a three-year term beginning July 1: Kim Carlson (292 votes), Heidi Ball (284 votes), and Jeff Cook (287 votes).

Churchville-Chili Central School District

Proposition 1, the 2022-23 Budget of $94,760,783 was approved with a total of 870 “yes” votes to 423 “no” votes.  Proposition 2, which allows for the purchase of eight new school buses of various configurations at an estimated maximum cost of $1,265,936, was approved with 854 “yes” votes to 441 “no” votes. Proposition 3, which authorizes the district to create a Capital Reserve Fund (known as the 2022 Capital Reserve Fund) to finance site work, construction and reconstruction and equipping of school buildings and facilities, acquisition of land, or rights in land, and costs incidental thereto; the ultimate amount of such a fund to be $15,000,000 plus earnings, was approved with 891 “yes” votes to 406 “no” votes.

Candidates Steve Hogan (incumbent), Kathleen Dillon (incumbent), and Thomas Albano have been elected to the Board of Education, effective July 1. They received 949, 714, and 552 votes, respectively.  The votes for the other candidates were as follows:  Michelle Aloi, 484 votes; Kevin Johnson, 480 votes; Ashley Renz, 422 votes.

“I want to thank our community for their continued support of our students and staff, which allow us to provide access to quality programs and services, and supports the social, emotional and cultural wellbeing of our school community,” said Superintendent Lori Orologio. 

Hilton Central School District

The 2022-23 School Budget was approved by district residents with 1,128 in favor and 477 opposed. The $91,986,886 plan for the 2022-23 school year is a 5.27 percent increase over last year’s budget. The Board of Education sets the tax rate in August.

 In addition to the budget proposition, district residents approved a $1,221,952 bus purchase proposition with a vote of 1,167 in favor and 442 opposed.

Elected to the three open seats on the Board of Education are incumbents Mark Hilburger with 952 votes, Nancy Pickering with 872 votes, and Therese Flannery with 820 votes. Lynda Donovan received 809 votes, Melissa Levato 542 votes, and Andrea Mendez 284 votes. The newly-elected board members will begin their three-year terms of office on July 1.

Holley Central School District

Holley voters passed the budget with 235 yes votes and 130 no votes. The Establishment of Capital Improvements Reserve Fund proposition passed with 233 yes votes and 138 no votes. The Purchase of Replacement School Buses proposition passed with 232 yes votes and 139 no votes. The budget for the Holley Community Free Library passed with 274 yes votes and 100 no votes.

Holley voters also elected Tracy Van Ameron (287 votes) and Anne Winkley (281 votes) to the Board of Education for three-year terms.

Kendall Central School District

Kendall voters passed the budget with 123 yes votes and 26 no votes. The Transportation Reserve Fund Usage proposition passed with 130 yes votes and 19 no votes. The Establishment of a Capital Reserve Fund proposition passed with 129 yes votes and 19 no votes.

Kendall voters also elected Lisa Levett (137 votes) to the Board of Education for a five-year term.

Spencerport Central School District

A total of 1,342 Spencerport School District residents voted this year. Proposition 1, the 2022-23 budget of $88,042,080, passed with 865 in favor (65.3%) and 459 opposed (34.7%).

The three candidates elected to the Board of Education were Megan Sarkis (825), Gary Bracken (811), and Michael Miceli (721). The unsuccessful candidates received votes as follows: Christopher Spallina (602) and  Michael Mayer (469). 

“I want to thank the Spencerport community for approving the 2022-23 budget,” Superintendent Kristin Swann said. “We know that strong schools create strong communities, and we appreciate the community’s trust and ongoing partnership. We have an amazing faculty and staff, a vibrant and talented student body, and extremely supportive School Board and community. We are very fortunate!”

Wheatland-Chili Central School District

Proposition 1: Budget Resolution to spend $20,836,533 during the 2022-2023 fiscal year was passed by a vote of 353 in favor and 97 opposed. Proposition 2: School Transportation Purchases (replace one bus and one van) was passed by a vote of  368 in favor and 82 opposed. Proposition 3: Classroom Furnishings Purchase was passed by a vote of 388 in favor and 67 opposed. Proposition 4: 2022 Capital Improvement Project for $5,800,000 was passed by a vote of 338 in favor and 115 opposed.

Incumbents Greg Berl (310 votes) and Cindy Dawson (264 votes) were reelected to the Board of Education. Keith Nicolosi received 247 votes.
