Byron-Bergen Record-Holding Hurdler to Continue Career at SUNY Geneseo

On June 5, Byron-Bergen senior Colin Rea committed to continuing his formal education after graduation at SUNY Geneseo, where he will compete in Track and Field. The official signing was witnessed by Byron-Bergen Varsity Soccer and Track Coach Ken Rogoyski, Varsity Track Coach Nick Muhlenkamp, and Rea’s family.
“It is a special moment for me to see Colin head to my alma mater, SUNY Geneseo, a place that means so much to me,” said Rogoyski. “After coaching him through years of soccer and track, I’ve seen the hard work he puts in behind the scenes. I can’t wait to be in the stands next year watching him ‘wow’ the Geneseo community just as he has wowed us here. The Knights are truly getting a great one!”
While at Byron-Bergen, Rea participated in Varsity Soccer, Swim Team, Indoor Track, and Track and Field. In his time on the Byron-Bergen Track team, he was a 2025 NYS Finalist in the 110 hurdles with a best time of 15.04 and set the school record in the 400 Hurdles with a time of 56.75.
“Colin has worked incredibly hard over the last few years and has overcome significant adversity and injury to become one of the best runners in both the Genesee Region and in Section V,” said Muhlenkamp. “Colin is currently #1 in Class C3 in the 110 Hurdles and #1 in New York State for Class C for the 400 Hurdles. I am very proud of him for all of his accomplishments, and I am sure he will continue to make us proud.”
“I would like to thank my mom for pushing me to the best of my ability,” said Rea. He plans to study biology as part of the Pre Med program at SUNY Geneseo.
