Blue Devils sweep Cadets

Brockport boys volleyball team trailed only briefly in the second and third games, but swept host Hilton 25-12, 25-18, 25-11 to improve their league record to 8-1 on the season.

Jared Heidt had a pair of kills while Ryan Gloff, Andrew Walter and Kyle Duell each added single kills while Aaron Huss had an ace to stake Brockport to a nine point lead in game one. Hilton closed to within five points at 16-11 with a four-point run plus kills from Jonah Matula and Andrew Kita, but the Cadets managed just one more point the rest of the game.

Game two was tightly played and tied 10-10 before the Blue Devils offense found their rhythm to close with a 15-8 run with Heidt registering five kills and Walter three kills during the run. Zach Sodoma also added an ace and kill.

In game three Hilton generated just two points from their offense – both kills by Matula – the entire game. Brockport junior Jacob Burgio had three kills, Shayne Bartnick one block and one kill while libero Stephen Sanders registered a pair of aces to complete the match.

Heidt led the Blue Devils with eight kills while Walter had six and Sodoma added four. Luke McLaughlin handed out 15 assists, Duell had nine assists and Sanders led with five digs.

For the Cadets, Nick Jay had ten assists and Kita led with seven kills.
