Perry signs with University of Maine

Brockport High School senior Shelby Perry signed her letter of intent to play softball at the University of Maine, where she plans to major in journalism next fall.

Shelby has been the varsity catcher since seventh grade and will enter her sixth season behind the plate for Brockport in the spring. She is a three-time All Greater Rochester Player (2010, 2012, 2013) and a four-time First Team All-County performer (2010-2013). She was selected Fourth Team All-State in 2013.

During Shelby’s career at BCSD, she has played in 115 games, collected 126 hits in 350 at-bats for a 0.360 batting average, has 20 doubles, six home runs and 79 runs batted in. Last season, Shelby had a 0.338 batting average, 27 hits, 6 home runs, and 23 runs batted in.

Girls Softball Coach Chris Carr is thrilled to see Shelby continue her softball career at the University of Maine. “No one deserves this opportunity more than Shelby as she has worked extremely hard to reach her goal,” said Carr. “She has been the anchor for our team’s success and a coach on the field for us since the time she stepped behind the plate in seventh grade. More importantly, she has been a great representative for Brockport both on and off the field and has carried herself with class. I am very proud to have had the chance to coach Shelby and Maine is lucky to have her.”
