Farming procedures of by-gone era demonstrated in Scottsville
Old Fashioned Days at Honey Locust Farms on Sunday, April 27 will feature over 100 draft animals in teams of two, three, four, five and six pulling plows and preparing fields for planting spring crops, reminiscent of a by-gone era. Demonstrations will begin at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day. more

Ogden Historical Society marks 40 years of preserving town's heritage
The Ogden Historical Society's Pulver House Museum on Colby Street in Ogden sits on the north side of Colby Street, just west of Washington Street in the northwest sector of Ogden. The house is said to have been built in 1811 by the Colby family. more

Wal-Mart proposal to be aired again
In an attempt to further any construction plans, Wal-Mart officials will be presenting scope documents to Town of Sweden officials. The scope documents are a draft of items that show where, and what, needs to be tested and studied before they can move ahead with their dreams of building a 203,500 super store in Sweden. more

Quilter Arleen Boyd says she developed her talents with a needle and thread the old fashioned way - practice, practice, practice. "I've always sewed. My mother passed away when I was 12 years old and I started making my own clothes. I've been sewing ever since," Boyd says. more

B-B board adopts budget
At the Thursday, April 10 meeting, the Byron-Bergen Board of Education adopted the 2003-2004 school budget of $15,400,496. This represents a budget-to-budget spending increase of .58 percent. more

Bereavement group offered for bereaved grandparents
Genesee Region Home Care and Hospice is sponsoring a bereavement support group for grandparents who have lost a grandchild or those who are concerned about grandchildren who have lost a parent. more

Gates-Chili Council recognizes community excellence
Recipients of the Gates/Chili Council of the Rochester Business Alliance, Inc. 2003 Community Awards will be honored Tuesday, April 29, at The Party House from 6 to 8:30 p.m. This will be the 18th year that the Council will honor local organizations and individuals that have significantly impacted the quality of life in the Gates-Chili community. more

Local scout achieves highest honor
Chili Boy Scout Troop #53 held an Eagle Court of Honor for Josh Brugger on February 9. In order to achieve the rank of Eagle, a scout must have earned a minimum of 21 merit badges, serve six months as a Life scout and hold six months of leadership positions in the troop. more

Parma's quilt show rescheduled
The spring quilt show at Parma Meetinghouse Museum has been rescheduled from May 4 to August 9 because of several complications resulting from the recent ice storm. more

Good photographs of how Parma looked during the recent ice storm, can be forwarded to Shirley Husted, Parma Historian. She is interested in adding them to the town's pictorial archives at Parma Town Hall. more

Volunteer needed for Hamlin Recreation Commission
Hamlin Recreation is recruiting for a position on the Recreation Commission. This is a volunteer position to help regulate and set policy for the Recreation Department. more

Community projects proposed for area towns
Upcoming community project proposals were announced by Monroe County Legislator Wayne Zyra (R-Sweden) for the towns of Clarkson and Hamlin. These proposed projects are on a list Monroe County will submit for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. more

Sidewalk project receives support
Monroe County Legislator Tracy Logel (R/C-Chili) says she supports a proposed sidewalk extension project in the Town of Chili. more

C-C staff and students present "Gondoliers"
Gilbert and Sullivan's "Gondoliers" was presented by twenty-six teachers and staff and twenty-five third- and fourth-graders at Chestnut Ridge Elementary School in Chili at two evening performances and a matinee. more

New Director of Finance and School Services appointed at C-C
The Churchville-Chili Board of Education passed a resolution to hire Franklin C. Nardone as the Director of Finance and School Services at the school board meeting on March 25. more

On Saturday, April 12 at the USA Kyokushin Headquarters in Rochester, Sempai Larry Quaranto satisfied the requirements set forth by the International Federation of Karate (IFK) and was awarded the rank of Nidan (2nd degree black belt). more

Spencerport's Paolini wins National Hockey Humanitarian Award
Spencerport native Sam Paolini was named the 2003 recipient of the Hockey Humanitarian Award in ceremonies held at the Buffalo Hyatt April 11 during the Frozen Four Division I College Hockey Championships. more
