HILTON: Manley, Carol W., 86, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, after a long and full life. She was born on December 25, 1939, in Corning, New York, to Forrest and Marion Woodward, and grew up in Elkland, Pennsylvania.
Carol met William “Bill” Manley during their middle school years, and the two became high school sweethearts. They were married on August 27, 1960, in Elkland, PA, and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in August 2025.
After several years living in Williamsport, PA, Carol and Bill moved to Hilton, New York, where Carol worked at Eastman Kodak. Following the birth of their daughter, Susan, Carol dedicated herself to being a full-time stay-at-home-mother. Nothing brought her more pride or happiness than her two grandsons, Dennis and Sean, who were the lights of her later years. She delighted in their stories, their accomplishments, and their simple moments spent together. Her only complaint was that she wished her grandsons played indoor sports, as she got tired of freezing at all their outdoor sporting events!
Summers held a special place in Carol’s heart, as she treasured camping trips shared with her husband, Bill, in their Fifth Wheel Camper. In NY, they were members of the Sunny Scouts RV Club, and in NH, they were members of the Saco River Ramblers. Camping trips were spent outdoors, and evenings were filled with conversation, laughter, and lasting memories under open skies.
Carol found great joy in quilting with the Small Town Quilters and Material Girls, creating beautiful handmade pieces that reflected her patience, creativity, and love; many of which will continue to warm the lives of family and friends. She also found deep fulfillment in volunteering with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), where she served as a member of the board, valuing the opportunity to give back and remain connected to her community.
A devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, Carol is survived by her husband, William; her daughter, Susan Morgan (Dennis Morgan II) of Center Conway, NH; her grandsons, Dennis Morgan III (Kaitlyn Janos) of Hershey, PA, and Sean Morgan of Lynnwood, WA; and many family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
Carol’s family is forever grateful for the staff of the Merriman House, Mineral Springs, and the Visiting Nurse Home Care and Hospice of Carroll County, who compassionately cared for and loved Carol during her final year of life.
Carol’s kindness, steady presence, and love for family and friendship will be remembered always. A graveside celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Highland Cemetery in Elkland, PA.
