Ogden Officially Welcomes New PT Officers

Department Now Fully Staffed
On Wednesday, February 25, the Town of Ogden officially welcomed two new part-time officers to the Ogden Police Department (OPD) during a ceremonial swearing-in. Officers Shannon Brett and Sean Ancker bring extensive law enforcement and public safety experience to the department. Chief Travis Gray and the entire police department were in attendance, along with the families of both officers being sworn in.
“With the swearing-in of Officers Brett and Ancker, our police department is now fully staffed,” said Supervisor Zale. “The experience and values they bring are a testament to the high standards we uphold in Ogden, and their commitment to public safety will benefit the entire community. I’d like to officially welcome both officers and wish them every success in their new roles.”
Officer Brett retired from the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) in 2022 following a distinguished career as a Criminal Investigator. During her tenure with OCSO, she also served as a D.A.R.E. instructor throughout Orleans County, a role she now holds with the Spencerport Central School District. With a master’s degree in Elementary Education and two decades of law enforcement experience, OPD is thrilled to welcome Officer Brett to the team.
Officer Ancker’s public safety career began in 2014 as a laborer with the North Greece Fire Department. After graduating from St. John Fisher College, he accepted a full-time firefighter position with the North Greece Fire Department, where he continues to serve. Previously, Officer Ancker worked part-time with the Le Roy Police Department. In addition to his service as a firefighter and part-time officer, he also serves as a Maritime Enforcement Specialist First Class in the United States Coast Guard.
“We are honored to welcome Officers Shannon Brett and Sean Ancker to the Ogden Police Department,” said Chief Gray. “Both bring a wealth of experience and a genuine commitment to serving our community. It is a longstanding tradition for the entire department to attend the swearing-in of new officers to show support, and I hope they felt that from both their families and the OPD family. Both officers are already doing a tremendous job in their roles, and I am confident they will make our department and the residents of Ogden proud.”
