CHILI: Sittig, Georgie June, 78, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, surrounded by those who cherished her. She left behind a legacy of faith, creativity, compassion, and deep love for her family.
Born on October 15, 1947, in LaPorte, Indiana, Georgie was the beloved daughter of the late Donald and Stephanie Heise. She grew up as the middle child alongside her sisters, Mary (late Michael) Buckley and the late Karen Heise. She loved her family well, including her niece, Kim Buckley, and nephew, Christian Buckley.

Georgie graduated from Mercy High School in 1965 before pursuing her calling in nursing at St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, NY. She devoted her career to caring for others, working faithfully at St. John’s Home and with the Visiting Nurse Service, where she primarily served the elderly in the urban community. Her gentle spirit and compassionate heart made her a comfort to countless patients and families.
In her forties, Georgie came to know Christ in a deeply personal way, and her relationship with Jesus became a guiding passion in her life. Her faith shaped her service and her deep love for others.
Georgie was a loving mother to her son, Matthew (Jillian) Sinasky, and her daughter, Megan Sinasky, whom she raised in the Chili community. Matt and Jillian’s children, Charlie, Evelyn, Elliot, and Vivian have always been a big part of her heart.
On August 21, 1991, Georgie married Ron Sittig. Together, they built a life filled with faith, travel, and shared adventures. Georgie embraced Ron’s family as her own, loving his two children, Scott (Julia Greeno) Sittig and Lynette (Josef) Sykora, grandchildren (Kaela, Jared (Naomi), Keeton, Landon, Gavin, Simon, and Luke) and great-grandchildren (Virginia, Phineus, and Frederick) wholeheartedly. Georgie is also survived by her brother-in-law, Loren (Maureen) Sittig, and nephew, Ryan Sittig.
Georgie found joy in life’s beautiful details. She loved irises, quilting, sewing, costume-making, knitting, cooking and baking, wandering through arts festivals, motorcycle rides, and drives with friends during which she had the uncanny ability to find birds, animals and even angels in the clouds. She had a special place in her heart for kittens and puppies, country music, shopping trips, and traveling with Ron. One of her most tender ministries was volunteering her sewing talents to transform wedding dresses into gowns for stillborn infants – a reflection of her quiet compassion and servant’s heart.
Above all, Georgie loved her family fiercely and made it her mission in life to bring fun, beauty, and adventure into their lives. As one of her grandsons, Jared, said, “I will never forget your laugh and your love for Disney, cats, quilts, Disney cats, Disney quilts, and Disney cat quilts.” Her life was marked by grace, creativity, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those she loved.
She will be deeply missed and joyfully remembered until the day her family is reunited with her in the presence of their Savior.
A memorial service will be held at Pearce Memorial Church, 4322 Buffalo Rd, North Chili, NY 14514, on Sunday, March 22nd, 2026, at 2:00 PM. All family and friends are welcome and encouraged to join this celebration of Georgie’s life.
