Morgan-Manning House Museum Update Event

April 12 at Whitehall Mansion

By Mary Lynne Turner, Trustee, Morgan-Manning House Museum

How are things going at the Morgan-Manning House? What’s happening at the House these days? We get the questions almost daily. Our friends and neighbors are both concerned and curious.

It’s remarkable how important the structure is to both Brockport and the larger community. In February, we were very honored to be recognized by the Landmark Society as one of their 2026 “Five to Revive.” This list is presented annually as a sort of positive slant on an endangered list of historic properties. There is no monetary award, but it is an honor to be recognized with this distinction. The acknowledgment gives the Morgan-Manning House Museum a broader audience who might not realize the treasure that we have had in Brockport all of these years, and what we are doing to bring it back. Paul Kimball, our Project Manager, and Landmark staff were interviewed on WXXI’s “Connections” with Evan Dawson about why the Morgan-Manning House Museum was chosen for this list. You may listen to the interview at https://www.wxxinews.org/show/connections/2026-03-12/the-landmark-societys-2026-five-to-revive or watch it on YouTube at https://youtu.be/4gFsSDoosjY.

Please join us on April 12 at Whitehall Mansion as Scott Hunsinger and Paul Kimball discuss the repair and restoration work that has been done so far, as well as plans for the future. The accomplishments are impressive, and the outlook is encouraging, but the project is expensive and far from complete. This is a great opportunity to gain an understanding of where the restoration stands, enjoy some refreshments, and chat with old friends and new ones. The program begins at 3 p.m., and a $25 donation is appreciated. Purchase tickets at the door or on the Home tab at morganmanninghouse.org.
