Congressional Art Competition

Open to Local High School Students
Congressman Joe Morelle’s office is seeking submissions for the 2026 Congressional Art Competition.
“Every day, on my way to the floor of the House of Representatives, I walk through a hallway lined with Congressional Art Competition winners from across the country. Seeing these works displayed in the Capitol is a powerful reminder of the imagination, talent, and promise young people bring to our country,” said Congressman Joe Morelle. “I’m proud to serve as a co-chair for this year’s competition, which brings members of Congress and communities across the country together in a truly bipartisan way to celebrate creativity and student achievement. I cannot wait to see what amazing pieces are submitted by our community.”
Each spring, a nationwide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and uplift the artistic talent of our community.
This year’s theme is: “Celebrating the Erie Canal.”Artwork should capture the history and impact of the Erie Canal on our region.
The Competition is open to all high school students in the 25th Congressional District. The winning artwork from the district’s competition will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. The exhibit in Washington will include the winning artwork from all participating districts from around the country. The winning artwork will also be featured on the House of Representatives’ web page.
Submissions are due by April 17, 2026, at 4 p.m., and can be submitted online by uploading the completed release form and a high-resolution image of the artwork.
