Master Gardener Volunteer Training Program

Info Sessions Planned, Applications Now Open
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County has opened applications for the 2026 Master Gardener Volunteer Training Program. This nationally recognized program prepares participants with research-based horticulture knowledge and hands-on experience to support gardening education throughout the community.
Master Gardener Volunteers play a vital role in Monroe County by sharing their expertise through community gardens, educational programs, workshops, and outreach initiatives. Participants in the training program receive comprehensive instruction in topics such as soil health, plant care, pest management, and sustainable gardening practices.
Community members interested in applying are strongly encouraged to attend one of the upcoming information sessions: April 27 from 7 to 8 p.m., virtually via Zoom; or May 1 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Henrietta Public Library, 625 Calkins Road, Rochester. These sessions provide an overview of the program, expectations, and application process, and offer an opportunity to ask questions and learn if the program is the right fit.
Those interested in becoming a Master Gardener Volunteer can learn more and register for an information session by visiting https://monroe.cce.cornell.edu/master-gardeners/how-to-become-a-master-gardener. Applications are due by May 15, 2026.
