Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo has been reappointed to the National Association of Counties’ (NACo’s) Board of Directors. The At-Large appointment to the national board provides Dinolfo with an ongoing opportunity to influence Federal policies that impact counties, and also bring innovative county government ideas to Monroe County and New York State.
NACo is a membership organization that provides support and services to the nation’s 3,069 counties, represents counties before the Federal government in Washington, D.C., and advances issues that are important to counties and local taxpayers across the nation.
“I’m proud to advocate for our community on the National Association of Counties Board and I am grateful to receive this reappointment so I can keep standing up for our residents at the federal level. I look forward to continuing to partner with representatives on both sides of the aisle through the National and New York State Associations of Counties to ensure Monroe County’s priorities are best represented in both Albany and Washington,” said County Executive Dinolfo.
Throughout the year, NACo members and staff testify before congress, meet with federal policy-makers, share innovative solutions and successful local programs, and conduct research designed to support stronger communities.
NACo’s priority initiatives for this year include a range of issues that are impacting counties across the country, including providing services and care for older adults, addressing the opioid crisis, mental health and jail issues, and fostering job-creation programs that attract and keep young professionals and their families.
“NACo is turning the challenges we all face locally into opportunities to grow and strengthen our communities, and I am pleased to be part of this team,” said Dinolfo.
Cheryl Dinolfo has been the Monroe County Executive since 2016. Prior to this position, she served as the Monroe County Clerk. Dinolfo is also a member of the NYSAC Board of Directors, representing the larger Finger Lakes region on the statewide association board.
