Fall college honors

•RIT senior forward and former Hilton Cadet Simon Garno was named to the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Men’s Division III All-East Region First Team. He was the Liberty League Co-Player of the Year after leading the Tigers with 21 points (fifth in the league), tied for first on the team with seven goals (tied for fifth in the league and tied for second in the league with seven assists. Unofficially he completed his collegiate career 15th on the all-time RIT scoring list with 52 points and second in career assists with 25.

•Former Cadet and RIT junior Nick Simone earned second team All-Liberty League honors in men’s soccer for the second consecutive year after he finished second on the team and sixth in the Liberty League in scoring with 19 points. He was tied for second in the conference with seven assists to go along with six goals. 

•Holley native, Kendall grad, and Nazareth College junior forward Jake Adams was named to the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Men’s Division III All-East Region Second Team and Empire 8 Player of the Year after he led the Golden Flyers in scoring with 25 points on 11 goals and three assists. Senior goalkeeper Brian Wilkin (Hilton) was a Third Team choice for the Golden Flyers. He was previously a three-time first-team E8 all-star and finishes with career stats that include 38 victories, 23 shutouts, 267 saves and a 0.86 goals-against average.

•Houghton College senior John Vernick was named First Team All-Empire 8 Conference in cross country after the Churchville-Chili graduate took seventh in the conference championships.

•Hilton grad and St. John Fisher freshman Megan Letta earned Empire 8 Honorable Mention in women’s soccer as the forward scored in each of the final three games of the regular season including the game-winner in the 87th minute at Nazareth on November 2 that gave the Cardinals their first-ever E8 Regular Season Championship. In all, Letta posted a team-high 13 points (5g, 3 a) while scoring three game-winning goals on the year.

•College at Brockport senior forward Jeff Hibbard (Hilton) was named Second Team All-SUNYAC in men’s soccer for the second straight year. He was second on the team with 17 total points from seven goals and three assists. Chris Kinsley was recognized as Third-Team All-Conference for a second consecutive season and junior midfielder AJ Sinclair was named Third-Team All-Conference for the second straight season.

•After claiming their sixth consecutive East Coast Conference men’s and women’s cross-country championships, 12 Roberts Wesleyan runners earned 2019 NCAA DII All-Region honors. James Betts, Connor Demo, Josiah Ottolini, Shane Pease, and Christopher Sims for the men and, on the women’s side, the Redhawks were one of five teams who had all seven runners earn All-Region titles out of 200 runners and 95 programs with Michaela Bierly, Abigail Gostomski, Bailey Gostomski, Aasha Krishnan, senior Moriah Martone (Spencerport), and Brittany Schumway being recognized. Head coach Andrew Dorr was named the 2019 NCAA Division II East Region Head Coach of the Year.

•The College at Brockport football team, after their third straight Empire 8 conference title, landed 13 student-athletes on Empire 8 All-Conference teams with Head Coach Jason Mangone and his staff earning Coaching Staff of the Year honors for a record third straight season, and freshman defensive back Raylens Boutin named the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year. Senior Alex West, classmate Allassane Coulibaly, junior Josh Greenwood, and Boutin were all named to the all-conference first team defense. Junior offensive captain Luke Lodini earned first team all-conference on the offensive line. Sophomore running back Jala Coad (top-ten in the nation in rushing touchdowns) and wide receiver Imhotep Cromer were each named to the all-conference second team on offense, while junior Lawrence Jenkins and sophomore Jordan Harris earned second team defense. Andrew Covais, Kenny Hernandez, and Demetri Swann rounded out the all-conference selections for Brockport as they were listed in the honorable mention category.  Senior linebacker Jason Karteron was Brockport’s selection to the Empire 8 Sportsman of the Year Team.

•Redhawks men’s soccer capped off their season with top honors from the East Coast Conference with sophomore Dylan Ruiz being named East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Jared Gibbons as Rookie of the Year while senior captain Terrell Spencer was nominated alongside Ruiz as first team All-Conference, sophomore Alex Perez Vega made the Second Team and sophomore Aaryn Massy was nominated Third Team. Ruiz was third among leading scorers for NCAA DII and ended the season with 17 goals and two assists. Gibbons assisted in bringing the Redhawks to their first ever ECC postseason appearance with .718 save percentage after being named starting goalkeeper early in the 2019 season. 

•Roberts women’s soccer earned two spots on the All-East Coast Conference Team. Senior midfielder Israela Groves was named to the second team after completing the season with six goals and five assists. Freshman Morgan Razzano had an impressive first year giving the Redhawks seven goals and three assists for the season.

•College at Brockport senior Sean Kuehn was named to the SUNYAC Cross Country Hall of Fame and All-SUNYAC First-Team (finished second), and became the first Golden Eagle to advance to Nationals since 2010 after crossing 13th at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals Championships. Junior Abbygail Clouden earned Third Team All-SUNYAC honors in cross country after finishing 12th in the conference championships.

•Golden Eagle field hockey forwards Meaghan Lurz and Renee Lauer were both named to the All-Conference second team. Lurz led the team with nine goals which puts her among the top-15 in program history and Lauer added eight. 

•The College at Brockport women’s soccer team has had six players honored with All-Conference recognition by the SUNYAC. Kiley Longin was named Third-Team All-Conference and SUNYAC Rookie of the Year after leading the squad and conference with 37 total points on a league leading 15 goals to go with seven assists. She was also named United Soccer Coaches Association All-Region East Third Team. Junior Marissa Greiner was a First-Team All-Conference defenseman one year after being named Third Team. Freshman goalkeeper Kayla Usborne collected Second-Team All-Conference recognition after starting 11 of her 13 games played, surrendering the third fewest goals in the conference. Junior Courtney Franz with freshmen Camryn Pettit and Franchesca Polcaro all earned Third-Team All-Conference. 

•Freshman Caroline Stewart of the College at Brockport women’s tennis team was selected for First Team All-Conference honors for singles. 

•Golden Eagle women’s volleyball won their fourth conference championship in the last five years and three players received All-Conference nods. Junior Meaghan Mastro was named First-Team All-Conference after leading the team with 285 kills and 87 blocks. She was Rookie of the Year and Second-Team All-Conference as a freshman. Sophomore Ellen Paddock was named Second-Team All-Conference as she led team with 424 digs and stood second on the team with 40 service aces. Senior Lindsey Luce was named Third-Team All-Conference after finishing third on the team with 215 kills and 63 blocks. Head coach Steve Pike was named SUNYAC Coach of the Year for the third time. He picked up his 150th win as head coach of Brockport.
