OFC Creations offers supplemental performing arts programs for families this fall

OFC Creations recently announced the lineup for educational performing arts programs this fall for families who will and families who will not be sending students back to in-person school, a chance for an artistic outlet.

OFC’s educational programs are open to ages four through 18 and are held at the new OFC Creations Theatre Center, 3450 Winton Place, Rochester.

The new theatre center opened July 13 with 260 brand-new theatre seats, a 56-foot stage, new theatre curtains and drapes, a 100-person lobby and lounge for receptions, and breakout rooms for smaller groups.

Educational programs this fall have been expanded from past years to supplement reduced offerings at local schools. OFC is offering:

•Evening programs to put on a show (Moana Jr., Heathers: The Musical, Little Women: The Musical)

•After school programs for skill-building (Everyone Is Abducted By Aliens, Theatrical Rainbow Class)

•Online classes (10 Ways To Survive Life In Quarantine

•Two-day programs to put on a show (The True Meaning of Halloween, Mashed Potatoes and Davey, A Wicked Christmas Carol)

Safety precautions will be added to all programs, including spaced drop off and pick up times, keeping students in groups of 10 to 15, wearing masks, especially while singing, as well as hand sanitizing stations and frequent hand washing. A full breakdown of safety precautions is constantly updated on OFC’s website.

OFC Creations’ Executive Director, Eric Vaughn Johnson, is no stranger to educational arts programming. From 2013 to 2018, Johnson designed and spearheaded the RAPA’s School for Performing Arts, leading school year and summer intensives. Johnson also served as the artistic director of SNAP Musical Theater for four summers with casts of 80 kids performing shows, including Hairspray and The Little Mermaid

“This school year is going to look a lot different for families across the area,” said Johnson. “Having a bit of normalcy, especially in an outlet like theatre, is important for these kids.”

Johnson also noted that morning and daytime programs might be added once local schools announce their formal plans for the fall.

Registration is now open for 2020 fall programs. Information and details are available at www.OFCCreations.com.
