Fifty-three students inducted into Hilton Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society

Superintendent David Dimbleby and Kathy Graupman, director of K-12 learning and staff development, congratulate eighth grader Tyler Barwald on his induction into the Hilton Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.Fifty-three students were welcomed into the Hilton Chapter on the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) during an evening ceremony on February 27. Principal Timothy Dobbertin told the students they were being recognized by their teachers and peers as model citizens at Merton Williams Middle School and in the community.

Each Honor Society chapter establishes rules for membership that are based upon a student’s outstanding performance in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship. To apply, students must submit a letter of interest, a letter of recommendation from an adult non-family member, complete 25 hours or more of volunteer service in the community, and have two adults that can attest to their character and leadership. They must also maintain a high academic standing. Many of the students are also involved in clubs, sports, dance, Student Council, Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts, church organizations and much more.

The new inductees are: Taylor Alloco, Naomi Appleton, Nicole Bansbach, Tyler Barwald, Brianna Benvenuti, Ashley Blackburn, MaKenna Bleier, Heather Bonter, Angela Bourret, Spencer Buckert, Wijitra Burapan, Matthew Buri, Joseph Callery, Sophia Camillaci, Kelsey Carpenter, Payton Cook, Paige Dauphinee, John Diakomihalis, Torie DiCesare, Olivia Gombatto, Kyle Goodrich, Kyndal Hetzel, Kaitlyn Humphreys, Daniel Keirsbilck, David Kensek, Paige Koss, Moriah Krause, Taylor Lepp, Johnathan Letta, Michael Mancuso, Alyssa Marciano, Tessa McElligott, Shannon McPhee, Divya Naidu, Noah Neale, Samantha Onderdonk, Braeden Ott, Kara Phillips, Allison Porcello, Christian Ranke, Nathan Resch, Daniel Richardson, Joshua Rosario, Amanda Rose, Mike Rudy, Angelica Saluzzo, Stephanie Shtoyko, Nick Simone, Elizabeth Taylor, Nicholas Weis, Emma Werner, Elise Wiza and Elinor Zollweg.

Scott Meagher, who serves as NJHS advisor along with Christina Ruscio-Fedczuk, encouraged students to continue to challenge themselves. “Raise the bar to the highest possible level,” he said. District administrators congratulated students as they presented them with their pins and certificates.

Meagher concluded the ceremony by thanking parents for all that they do to help their children be successful. After the ceremony, students presented their parents with thank-you letters and carnations.
