Would you like to learn to play an instrument such as the piano, guitar, or ukulele, but simply can’t find the time? Are you interested in learning music but feel intimidated by the idea of private lessons? If so, check out the classes Craig Coffman is offering this fall through community education programs in Brockport, Churchville, and Hilton.
Coffman teaches what he calls “Instant Music Classes” – crash courses designed specifically for absolute beginners. Each one-time seminar provides a simple, practical introduction to piano, guitar, or ukulele and helps students begin playing right away. After all, getting started is often the hardest part, and that’s exactly what these courses are designed to do.
Each class combines hands-on instruction with lecture and demonstration. Students attend online via Zoom and can continue learning afterward using Coffman’s online book and recorded follow-up lessons. Although the classes are designed primarily for busy adults, students ages 13 and older are welcome.
For more than 33 years, Coffman has taught Instant Music Classes at colleges and community education programs throughout the country. He promises that students will leave class able to play simple songs immediately on their chosen instrument.
Students especially appreciate the online format because they can participate from home using their own instrument. Thanks to Zoom’s mute feature, no one is put on the spot or required to play in front of other participants.
The course fee includes a recording of the class, an online book, and online follow-up lessons. Students will also have access to an optional monthly question-and-answer session at no additional charge.
