Arbor Day Foundation Names the Town of Greece Tree City USA

The Town of Greece was named a 2020 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation, in partnership with the United States Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.

The Town of Greece achieved Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program’s four requirements which include a tree board, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

“The Arbor Day Foundation has once again congratulated the Town of Greece on earning recognition as a 2020 Tree City USA. The Tree Council, our Greece Town Board, and I are committed to attaining this goal every year,” said Supervisor Bill Reilich. “Preserving our town’s natural beauty is a very important mission. I am honored that the Arbor Day Foundation has granted our Town with this distinguished title and is a testament to our community’s commitment in conserving our forestry and protecting the natural beauty of our town. We are proud to be recognized as a Tree City USA for the 24th consecutive year.

The Arbor Day Foundation is a million member nonprofit conservation and education organization with the mission to inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. More information is available at arborday.org
