Rotary Farm Store & Classroom to open at Homesteads for Hope

Homesteads for Hope, Inc. is a non-profit Community Farm that was founded in 2013 by a mother and daughter team raising a transitioning young adult with autism. In 2016, with the support of the Disability Opportunity Fund, the volunteer-based organization purchased a 55-acre farm on Manitou Road adjacent to the Erie Canal in Ogden.

The organization now serves young adults over the age 16 with and without disabilities, providing a place to learn to work, live and grow within nature’s classroom. For three years, the Community Farm made up of members, volunteers and collaborators, has worked on developing a sustainable and inclusive model for all – with focus on educational programs, social recreation, agri-enterprise and agri-tourism to create a true community experience.

On Wednesday, July 24, from 11 a.m. to noon, Homesteads for Hope and many supporters will be holding the first ribbon cutting event for the grand opening of the Rotary Farm Store & Classroom on site. This is the farm’s first established business that is open to the public. Many community members, donors, town officials and students are expected to be in attendance to celebrate the achievement. The Rotary Farm Store will open for sales at noon.

Homesteads for Hope is located at 2185 Manitou Road, on the southwest side of the Erie Canal. For information, contact Jenny@HomesteadsforHope.org or call 585-352-4673.
