Picnic honoring local veterans

Fundraiser for Veterans Outreach Center and One Soldier At A Time

Gates residents, Barbara and Joe Giancursio, are hosting their 29th Annual Picnic & Fundraiser on Sunday, July 18, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until dark at Westgate Park, 1489 Howard Road.

The picnic is a fundraiser for the Veterans Outreach Center and One Soldier At A Time, a 501(c)(3) that is dedicated to helping families of soldiers while they are serving our country.

Local veterans being honored are Gary Beikirch, Vietnam veteran and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, Todd Baxter, Monroe County Sheriff, Frank Allkofer, Vietnam veteran and Monroe County Legislator, and Adrian Hale, U.S. Marine veteran and Senior Manager at the Rochester Chamber of Commerce. Special guests include Laura Stradley, Executive Director of Veterans Outreach Center, Lauren Coe, founder of One Soldier At A Time, and Joe Robach, former NY State Senator.

Dinner is a hot buffet, desserts and non-alcoholic beverages. Entertainment will be provided by Christopher Scribani of Marantha DJ Services, and Gates Police Chief, Jim VanBrederode playing his bagpipes.

The Giancursios are moving to Florida and holding this final event as their farewell to a community that they have been very active in. Barbara served on the Gates Chili Chamber board and both she and Joe volunteered for many local organizations. They will be missed!

To register for this fundraiser, please contact Barbara Giancursio at (585) 704-9242 by July 15.
