Brockport Ecumenical Food Shelf resumes in-person shopping

After more than two years of being closed to in-person shopping due to the pandemic, the Brockport Ecumenical Food Shelf reopened on Thursday, June 2.

Since March 2020, the Brockport Food Shelf has been limited to deliveries only.   Joe Blosenhauer, who serves on the Board of Directors, said, “Through the pandemic we had volunteers deliver to those in need daily, with up to twenty deliveries a week.” The Food Shelf will now be open every Thursday for in-person shopping from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 to 6 p.m.  “Deliveries are still available to those who cannot shop in person,” said Blosenhauer.

The Brockport Ecumenical Food Shelf has been serving the community for more than 30 years and is solely supported by donations from the community. Nine area churches support the food shelf as do the Lions Club, food drives of local boy and girl scouts and letter carriers, and donations from businesses and residents.   West Herr has been a generous supporter of the nonprofit. In May they gifted a donation of $20,000 to the food shelf as part of their “Share the Love Campaign.”

The Brockport Ecumenical Food Shelf serves residents that live between Rt. 104 and the Genesee County line and the areas between Washington Street (Adams Basin) and west to the Orleans County line.

Brockport Ecumenical Food Shelf is located at 14 State Street, inside St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.  To learn more, stop by on Thursday, visit https://www.
