Rochester doctor named to leadership role for Heart Walk & Run

To mark 100 days until the Rochester Heart Walk & Run, celebrating the American Heart Association’s 100th birthday, on February 27 the Association named Dr. Scott Feitell, cardiologist with Rochester Regional Health, to lead the event.

In his role as chairman, Dr. Feitell is charged with a $500,000 fundraising goal to support the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association.

The Rochester Heart Walk & Run is part of the American Heart Association’s Heart Challenge®, which is a suite of activities and initiatives designed to help companies positively impact employee overall health and well-being. The program is anchored in a series of customizable workplace events that inspire employees to be more engaged, reconnect with colleagues, get in their physical activity, support a great cause and have a lot of fun doing it.

“For 100 years the American Heart Association has saved and improved lives, pioneered scientific discovery and advocated for healthy communities,” said Dr. Feitell. “With bold moves and support from donors like you, the Heart Walk & Run saves lives by bringing friends, families, coworkers, and neighbors together. And together, we demonstrate our commitment to health, and honor or remember loved ones with heart disease or stroke. With Bold Hearts, all of us have raised millions of dollars to improve health and quality of life for everyone, transformed communities, and significantly reduced heart disease and stroke death rates. And we’re just getting started. With your help, we can keep working to ensure all people can enjoy longer, healthier lives.”

The Rochester Heart Walk & Run will be held on Thursday, June 6, at Monroe Community College. The Heart Walk & Run unites the community in celebrating health and honoring survivors with a three-mile walk around the campus.

The funds raised at all Heart Challenge events fund the mission of the American Heart Association to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives while supporting priority issues in Rochester and the Association’s 2024 Health Equity Impact Goal, reducing barriers to health care access and quality.
