Brockport Fire Department receives funding for vital equipment
It's been 15 years since the Brockport Fire Department has fully updated the airpacks that the firefighters use. Now, through the receipt of a $305,954 grant from the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighter Grants Program, they will be able to purchase 56 airpacks and three rapid intervention team packs. more

The Churchville Park Multi-Use Trail, located on Parrish Road off of Buffalo Road and west of the Village of Churchville, is now open to the public. more

Roberts Wesleyan recognizes over 50 years of college caring
When Mendal Dick first set foot on the Roberts Wesleyan campus in 1953, the Athletic Center was a barn -- literally. With only four academic buildings -- the barn, a trailer park and a barracks comprised the remainder of the structures -- and about 250 students all told, the livestock seemed the majority. more

Sweden officials make decision on Heritage Square rezoning
The vote to rezone 130 acres of land on Redman Road in the Town of Sweden was unanimous at the October 10 Sweden board meeting. Supervisor Buddy Lester abstained from the vote as he has since the beginning of the approval process. more

Sweden's prelim budget tax figures show decrease
While the Town of Sweden is looking at increases in expenses in some areas, board members were still able to hold the line - and potentially reduce it - on the 2007 tax rate. more

Village of Churchville to hold meeting
to discuss draft vision plan

President of the Greater Brockport Development Corporation Peter Maxson and Brockport Wal-Mart Manager Drew Coleman. Wal-Mart has pledged $2,000 a year for the past five years to be used on the Welcome Center at Harvester Park. more

Candidates for fire commissioner sought for Morton district
Residents of the Morton Fire District who are interested in seeking election to seats on the five-member Board of Fire Commissioners are invited to apply. Two seats will be vacant for the 2007 election to be held in early 2007. One is a five year term; the other is a one year term to fill a vacated position. more

Funds for Splash
Senator George Maziarz stopped in Spencerport on October 10 to present a $1,000 check to Joyce Lobene, president of the Spencerport Area Chamber of Commerce and Spencerport Mayor Ted Walker for the 2007 Canal Splash Sunday. more

Emily Egan of Chili earned her Black Belt in Karate on August 19 at the Caparco Martial Arts dojo. An outstanding achievement in its own right for a 14-year-old girl, she is the third in her family to achieve this rank. more

Cadets register second shutout

The Sweden/Clarkson Flag Football U10 team met the Brockport Eagles in a fast paced contest October 7. Quarterback Glenn Post led the Sweden/Clarkson team to a 14-13 decision, tallying a pair of touchdowns to Tommy Pauly and Jason Hayes. more
