More Chinook salmon to be stocked
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Bureau of Fisheries will increase the 2004 level of salmon stocking in Lake Ontario by 10 percent. This augmentation will raise the overall number of Chinook salmon the DEC stocks into Lake Ontario to 1.76 million annually, according to State Senator George D. Maziarz, 62nd Senatorial District. more

Mystery Theater comes to Brockport
"Mystery, Maestro, Please" will be presented by the Brockport Kiwanis Club. The theater presentation by the BUM Players is directed by local, well known Gary Thomas. The event is a fundraiser for children's activities in the Brockport area. Tickets, a donation of $15, include an assortment of refreshments. more

New Riga Town Hall a work in progress
The Town of Riga will soon have its new town hall with much needed space added to the town court. Councilman Bob Ottley says the need for a larger court drove the nearly $2 million project forward. The new office on Buffalo Road will be less than a mile from the current Main Street location, but will provide better parking as well as more office space. more

Parma Public Library welcomes new library director
The Library Board of Trustees of the Parma Public Library has chosen new Library Director, Sally L. Snow. She started as Parma Library Director October 6. The Board of Trustees also selected Catherine A. Kyle as Parma Public Library's children's librarian.

"Common Sense Parenting" course
to be taught at Hilton Community Center

Hilton Central School District, in cooperation with Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES, offers a six-week parenting course, "Common Sense Parenting," beginning October 20 at the Hilton Community Center, 59 Henry Street, Hilton. Holley Schools awarded $392,000 physical education grant
According to Superintendent of Schools Vernon Hobbs, the Holley Central School District was awarded a $392,026 grant from the U.S. Department of Education for the Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP). more

Eric Bacon is the new director of parks and recreation for the Town of Ogden, replacing Glenn Boetcher who died suddenly this past summer. Bacon says he was a friend of Boetcher's and feels he has "big shoes to fill." more

Record times established in Apple Derby
The 25th Anniversary Apple Derby Run held October 4 was certainly a race for the record book as 90 individuals ran the certified course and new competition times were established. more

Spencerport native inducted into SUNY Geneseo Hall of Fame
Ian Tudman was one of five players and administrators inducted among the 2003 class into the SUNY Geneseo Sports Hall of Fame in ceremonies held October 4. more
