Noone Post 954 hosts Boys State Orientation Dinner
On Sunday evening June 23, Harvey C. Noone Post 954 sponsored an orientation dinner at their Post Home for the 32 Boy State representatives from all the Posts in Monroe County and their parents. The objective of the program was to prepare the involved families of the agenda of the five day program from the date they leave, June 26, to the date they return, July 3, including contact information and expectations. more

Troop 90 holds Court of Honor
Boy Scout Troop 90 held a Court of Honor on May 21 to recognize William T. Rowe for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. Friends and family were in attendance at the First Baptist Church in Chili to honor him for this achievement. more

Chili Subordinate Grange #393 activities for June noted
The last regular meeting of the Chili Subordinate Grange #393 was held on June 4. At this meeting a basic plan was discussed to establish a timetable and tentative schedule for the coming Monroe County and New York State Fairs. Also to try and establish a potential list of members that might be able to assist on these activities. In the past, the Chili Grange has a long history of supporting these events to the fullest. more

Hilton crews schedule fire hydrant work
Village of Hilton residents are advised that the Public Works Department will be flushing fire hydrants from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the following dates: Monday, July 1; Tuesday, July 2; and Wednesday, July 3. more

Maximum speed limit on Rt. 531 increased to 65 m.p.h.
The maximum speed limit on Route 531 in Monroe County was raised to 65 m.p.h. June 27. Governor Pataki recently signed the legislation that gives the State DOT authority to raise the maximum state speed limit on this stretch of highway. more

Spencerport Fire Department report
Calls for June 9 – June 15 – 19 total calls for the week including seven (7) medical calls, five (5) fire alarms, and four (4) motor vehicle accidents. more

Van provides transportation to and from Parma Town Park
Hilton Parma Recreation offers a free van service from Hilton village to Parma Town Hall Park and back Monday through Friday beginning July 8 and ending August 30. The van will leave the Village Community Center, 59 Henry Street at noon and return at 3 p.m. Supervision will not be provided. more

Village of Brockport awarded grant
On Monday, June 17 the Village of Brockport was awarded Wal-Mart's Environmental Grant of $500. Mayor Jo Matela accepted the grant on behalf of the Board of Trustees at a presentation attended by Brockport Garden Club representative Diane Maynard. more

Brockport CSD employees honored
Nineteen members of the Brockport Central School District non-teaching professional staff were recognized for their outstanding dedication and on-the-job contributions to the district. Staff received letters and a certificate from Superintendent of Schools James Fallon.

Countryside students graduate
Countryside Nursery School held its annual graduation ceremony on June 11 at the Spencerport United Methodist Church. The 15 four and five year old graduates entered to the traditional Pomp and Circumstance. more

A 3 On 3 Basketball Tournament co-sponsored by The Rochester Monroe County Youth Bureau and Hilton-Parma Recreation will be run at Parma Town Hall Park on Saturday, August 3 as part of the Town's Summer Celebration. more

Bright Raven Gymnastics Level 4 and Level 5 Teams brought home fourth place team banners from the Upstate New York Championships held in Utica June 7-9. more

Brockport's Jones Coach of the Year
Brockport Blue Devils' baseball coach Brian Jones was named Section Five and Monroe County Division I Coach of the Year after leading his team to a 20-4 record this season. more

Hilton Heat U-14 girls capture Irondequoit crown
On May 18 and 19 the Hilton Heat Under 14 girls soccer team participated in the Irondequoit Soccer Tournament and brought home the first place trophies. more

Hilton's Hargather Co-Coach of the Year
Hilton head softball coach Amy Hargather was named Co-Coach of the Year in Monroe County Division I along with Webster’s Colleen Kelly. She led the Cadets to an 11-11 record during the 2002 season in her first year as a head coach after graduating in December from SUNY Brockport. more

Jarkowski named Player of the Year
Churchville-Chili junior Chris Jarkowski was named Player of the Year in Division I boy’s tennis for the 2002 season. more

Rochester Rookies receives contribution
Western Region's Rochester Rookies Jr. Wheelchair Sports Team has been awarded a $1,000 gift as part of the Rochester Press-Radio Club's charitable giving program. more

Spencerport Boys' Under-11 awarded second place
The Spencerport Soccer Club's Boys' Under-11 Travel Soccer Team made it to the final round and was awarded second place at the Hilton Tournament. more

Wall, Dewey sweep postseason awards
Churchville-Chili catcher Lyndsay Wall was named the Division II softball Player of the Year and M.P. Dewey was named the Coach of the Year following their 15-7 season which ended with a 1-0 loss to Webster in the Sectional semi-finals. more
