Church forms "Team Harris" to help family cope with transplant
Barbara Harris of Moul Road, Parma is no stranger to kidney-related problems, she says. "Mine began when I was six years old. Then at age eleven I endured two-and-one-half years of dialysis. Problems continued that led to a transplant of one kidney in 1972. Now the other kidney must be replaced and I expect the operation sometime in mid-January." more
Eastern Orleans United Way raises $138,000 for community
The annual Eastern Orleans United Way/Red Cross Campaign raised $138,224 representing 89 percent of their $155,000 goal. However, a few employee campaigns are still underway and campaign organizers remain hopeful that the final figure will significantly increase. more

The 40-member Long Range Planning Committee formed in 2000 by the Hilton Board of Education will re-convene on Tuesday, December 3, at 7 p.m. in the Board Meeting Room of the Quest/West Avenue Building to review the final architectural plans and drawings of the Hilton School District's $57.9 million Capital Project set to being in March. more
Hilton/Parma community members come together to fight mischief
Eighty concerned Hilton and Parma residents met at the Village Community Center November 21 to share their concerns with juvenile mischief and develop a strategy to deal with such behaviors. The meeting was the result of action taken by a few local residents following an incident at Darrins Automotive in which 10 cars were severely damaged and property was stolen, in late October. more
Salvation Army pleas for more bell ringing teams
"Bell ringer volunteer teams are still needed to fill numerous slots at kettle sites," announced Rick Damore, field representative for The Salvation Army's Service Units in Monroe County. "With the lagging economy comes additional hardship for families in this county. Bill ringing teams from companies, clubs and families, which would raise funds to help such families, would be a true God-send during this holiday season." more

Sweden Seniors host Symphony concert
The Brockport Symphony Orchestra performs Handel's Messiah with the Cathedral Choir School on December 14, at 7 p.m. at the Sweden Senior Center on State Street in Brockport. General admission for the concert is $8 and includes a reception following the performance. Children under 12 are free. more
