Energy audit program offered to small businesses
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has introduced the New York Energy SmartSM Energy Audit Program, designed to provide low-cost energy audits to small businesses and other facilities to help them make informed electrical energy decisions and implement energy-efficiency strategies. more

The Dispute Settlement Center of the Better Business Bureau Foundation will start a Family Mediation Program in Genesee County Family Court. more

Hilton Board of Education adopts proposed budget
The Hilton Board of Education voted to adopt a $47,997,019 budget proposal for the 2003-04 school year at its April 8 meeting. "This year's budget has given us a challenge," Hilton Superintendent of Schools John Cooper said. more

Outdated law threatens auto leasing in NYS
More than a quarter of all new vehicles on the road are leased. Unless an antiquated law is changed soon, that popular option will no longer be available in New York state. As part of a sweeping lawsuit abuse package, New York State Assemblyman Charles Nesbitt says he has proposed legislation that would end "vicarious liability." more

The registration deadline for the summer Driver Education program is May 30. more

English Road in Greece to close for bridge reconstruction
Monroe County's Department of Transportation will close a section of English Road in the Town of Greece between North Avenue and North Greece Road effective 9 a.m., Monday, May 5. more

Gallup Road bridge remains closed through mid-May
The single-lane Gallup Road bridge spanning the Erie Canal in Ogden will remain under construction and closed to traffic through the end of May. The bridge work was anticipated to be completed in April prior to the filling of the Erie Canal and the closure of Washington Street Lift Bridge in Adams Basin on May 5. more

Churchville-Chili Junior High School students in Nancy Amory's Home and Careers class stayed after school over a period of four weeks to sew fleece hats to give away. The material for the fleece hats came from extra fleece left over from their classroom sewing assignment. more

Seniors in need of assistance must sign up with a senior companion. more

Workshop offered on safety and security for seniors
Keeping seniors safe from falls and other hazards is the mission of a unique program. In Monroe County, LIFESPAN has received a grant that offers apartment and home safety assessments and provides/installs safety equipment free to eligible seniors. more
