Les Carr, part of a committee working with Mike Brown and about thirty others, is active in opposing rezoning of a portion of Manitou Road north of West Ridge Road in Parma for a large housing development. Les says: "Keep Parma rural. If we don't stop this development then Parma will look like Greece and rural Parma will disappear!" more

Orleans County Primary Election September 9
Orleans County Board of Elections informs registered voters of the Republican Party that primaries will be held in the towns of Clarendon and Ridgeway on September 9. Polls have been consolidated for this election and voting will take place at the town halls beginning at noon and will continue until closing at 9 p.m. more

Parma candidate visits seniors
On August 14, Tina Brown visited with local seniors at the Hilton Senior Center to discuss the political issues that they feel are the most prevalent in this year's local election. Brown is the Democratic candidate for the Parma Town Supervisor position in Parma. more

Every Holley Central School District elementary student will receive free breakfasts during the 2003-04 school year. more

Brockport Central School District implements new attendance policy
The Brockport Central School District will have a new attendance procedure in place for middle and high school students returning to school in September. Regulations set last year by the New York State Board of Regents requires all school districts in the state to take and report attendance every class period. more

Churchville-Chili BOE approves new tax rate
At its August 12 meeting, the Churchville-Chili Board of Education approved a new tax rate of $24.34 per $1,000 of assessed property value for residents in Riga, Ogden, Chili and Sweden. This tax rate is less than the estimated 2003-04 tax rate in the proposed 2003-04 school budget. more

EagleFest 03 kicks off football and opening of school

Girls U14 team takes second place

The Spencerport Soccer Club's Girls' U14 Travel team took second place at the Syracuse Salt City Tournament. The Spencerport girls defeated teams from Canada and Kenmore/Tonawanda to reach the finals in dramatic fashion, losing by a goal in the final in double overtime. more
