Brockport Fire Department
receives historical treasure
The Brockport Fire Department museum recently received an old fire helmet formerly worn by Assistant Chief Engineer Leonard Krausey in 1882. Krausey held the position under Chief John A. Getty. Getty was the first fire chief of the department after reorganization in 1877, and is revered as the father of the fire department as we all know it today. more

Boy Scout Troop 292 Eagle Scout
Court of Honor - November 20, 2003

Boy Scout Troop 292 held an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on November 20, at the Churchville Chili High School to recognize Andrew W. Tschorke for earning the rank of Eagle. For his Eagle Scout service project, Andy organized a group of scouts to clear and mulch a new trail and build a bridge in the Paul Road School Nature Center. more

Community effort feeds holiday spirit
Last Christmas, Jimmy Z's restaurant was not yet open, but now it will host a community-wide effort to feed seniors and the financially disadvantaged a full Christmas dinner. more

D. Scott "Scotty" Warthman remembered
Saturday, December 13, 2003 a very special man's life was snuffed out in a motor vehicle accident. D. Scott "Scotty" Warthman had passed away at age 60. Our community of firefighting personnel, antique fire apparatus restorers and collectors, and many folks not part of these interests, but still close to Scotty, are stunned. more

Lakeside Gala Dinner prize winner announced
Barb Deming of Brockport was the winner of two prizes at the Foundation's Annual Gala Dinner - two first class tickets on American Airlines and a $500 gift certificate for Wegmans in Brockport. more

Local man focused on future, regardless of disease
With the New Year comes new hope for 27-year-old Hilton native Dan Putnam. He was diagnosed with leukemia on June 26, but has battled back and is hoping to enter remission in early spring. more

Many questions, but no answers yet concerning Hamlin project
The December 18 public hearing on a proposed government subsidized housing project held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church left attendees begging the question: how many Hamlin residents does it take to get an answer? more

Seymour family memorabilia comes home to Brockport
The hundreds of Seymour family papers and photographs discovered at an on-line auction site by Brockport resident Bill Heyen offer items of familial rather than historical interest but are fascinating nonetheless, say Brockport's historian and historian emeritus. more

Chili residents displayed their holiday spirit by entering this year's Christmas Home Decorating Contest. The contest was co-sponsored by Chili Recreation and One Step Lawncare and Christmas Decor. more

Volunteers of America (VOA) needs donations of used clothing to help support those in need. more

Holley Rotary Club Christmas Project
Members of the Holley Rotary Club have adopted local families for the holidays. The club provides the families with a gift certificate for $75 for food. Club members then purchase and wrap gifts for the children in the family. more

BOCES 2 students and staff deliver holiday cheer
The staff of the Communication and Technology Department of Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES together with the SkillsUSA VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) students at the WE-MO-CO Career and Technical Education Center donated, collected and wrapped new toys for 25 children from Liberty Life of Orleans County. more

Churchville-Chili students win fire safety essay contest
Two Churchville-Chili students won first place in their age group for the Monroe County Volunteer Firemen's Association (MCVFA) Fire Safety essay contest. more

Churchville-Chili students win local Peace Poster contest
Two Churchville-Chili students won first place in a local poster competition sponsored by the Churchville Lions Club. MacKenzi Martin, a sixth grader at C-C Intermediate School and Michael Melito, a seventh grader at C-C Junior High School are the winners. more

Hilton's Mickey Toy Drive a "Huge Success"
Students and staff members throughout the Hilton Central School District, along with Hilton-area business and civic organizations, donated more than $900 and hundreds of toys to shelters this holiday season through the "Mickey Toy Drive" in memory of Hilton High School junior Matt "Mickey" Mikolaichik who died tragically in an automobile crash in October. more

Preschoolers decorate at McDonalds
Thirty-five "Little Angel Students" from Trinity Christian Preschool's three and four year old programs decorated the Christmas Tree at the McDonald's on Nichols Street in Spencerport. more

The Hilton Hockey Boosters will host the 4th annual Rob Coppaway Alumni Game on Saturday, December 27 at Lakeshore Ice Arena. more

Kewin, Crowe first in Blue Devil loss
Kevin Kewin and Steve Crowe won one event each and Kewin was part of a winning relay team as Brockport fell to Penfield 98-82 in boy's swimming. more

Rangers serve 15 aces in win
Laura Stultz and Samantha Hawn each registered six kills and the team combined for 15 serving aces over four games in a 25-12, 25-12, 25-27, 25-19 win over Pittsford-Mendon in girl's volleyball. more
