A Spencerport legend passed through his old village recently to reminisce and refresh fond memories. Bill Flagg, a Spencerport son, is a war hero, a professional baseball and basketball player, a devoted family man and a great outdoorsmen. more

Hamlin fire deemed suspicious
A fire destroyed a home on Railroad Avenue in Hamlin early Saturday morning, June 25. The occupants of the single family home had been evicted recently, leaving the building vacant. more

Second-graders get an electrifying lesson
The library at the Barclay Elementary School was transformed into a science laboratory last month for author and scientist Luann Colombo's visit. Colombo, a Rochester native, has written more than 30 books about science and nature. She talked to students about insects, science, senses, and writing. more
BCSD recognizes non-teaching professional staff
Sixteen members of the Brockport Central School District's non-teaching professional staff were recently recognized for outstanding work. The District's Labor-Management team sponsors this recognition by soliciting nominations from peers, teachers, administrators and supervisors. more
BHS Computer Club donates computer
Thanks to the Brockport High School Computer Club, Staci Knight will now have a computer to use for college. more

Hoedown at Hickory Hollow
On Saturday, June 25, over 100 residents of Hickory Hollow, an age restricted community in Spencerport, gathered for a "Hoedown" and pig roast. Entertainment was provided by the Hickory Hollow Harmonizers, a group within the community which gets together and sings just for the love of music. more

League champions
The GLL Diamondbacks, sponsored by HD & K Mold Company, finished off the year with a 16-2 record and won the Western Division Pennant and the Overall League Championship. They were managed by Harald Juergens. Bench coaches were Mark Trudeau, Mark Crawford, Joe Gersonia and Kevin Klein. more
Medal winners at Empire Games
Known as the "Golden Girls" of the Salmon Creek Country Club's Women's Tennis League, Gloria Miller of Greece and Millie Gianfagna of Brockport lost none of their luster as they won gold medals for the fourth straight year in tennis in the 75-80 doubles bracket at the 2005 Empire State Senior Games (ESG) held June 6 to 11 at SUNY Cortland in Cortland. more
