Ogden Police investigate crime spree on Route 31
On Sunday, August 27, the Ogden Police Department received several calls involving mischief and theft. The first call came at 6:42 a.m., the last at 1:50 p.m. All of the crimes, which took place on Spencerport Road (Route 31) in Ogden, are presumed to have happened during the early morning hours between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The accounts include three petty larcenies, one criminal mischief, two grand larcenies, three cases of trespassing and one burglary. more

Public comment period extended for
Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Water Levels Study

The International Joint Commission (IJC) extended the period for public comment on the report of its International Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River Study Board until September 15. The Study Board reviewed the regulation of water levels and flows in the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River system, taking into account the impact of regulation on affected interests. more

Firefighter shoots Spencerport FD’s Station One blaze -- August 11, 2006
Spencerport Firefighter Adam Salamone was on medical leave due to a broken arm at the time of the fire at the Lyell Avenue, Spencerport firehouse disaster, and that kept him from actively participating in firefighting. more

The Sweden Community Foundation (SCF) held a meet-and-greet on Wednesday, August 16 in the foyer of the Sweden/Clarkson Community Center, bringing in over 75 business representatives from western Monroe County. more

Breaking ground
The Arc of Orleans County broke ground for their newest residence on Wednesday, August 23. The home, to be built on Hamilton Street, in Albion, will house seven people served by The Arc of Orleans. more

On August 16, the Hispanic Migrant Ministry Youth performed at the Hamlin Mexican Fiesta. more

IACC searches for oldest living immigrant
The Italian American Community Center is looking for the oldest living Italian immigrant in the Rochester area. This person will be recognized at the 15th annual Christmas Gala. The gala will be held on November 25 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. more

Navy Club of Lake Ontario celebrating anniversary
On October 13, 1996, the Navy Club of Lake Ontario located on Clinton Street in Brockport, held its grand opening. At 10 a.m. the doors of the future seas service museum were open to the public. The tour guides were Ron Ayrault, Lew Randall, Art Kamp and Ed Reese. more

Rec center discusses master plan
The Sweden/Clarkson Recreation Department will hold an open forum for the new Recreation and Parks Master Plan, September 13 at the Town of Clarkson Courthouse at 7 p.m., and September 14 at the Town of Sweden Courtroom at 7 p.m. more

Weekly Wednesday Strolls in Greater Brockport return
The second year of the popular Walk! Bike! Brockport! Action Group's Wednesday strolls in the Brockport community will begin this week. George Toth and Hanny Heyen will lead walkers to various historic, noteworthy, or otherwise interesting sites beginning Wednesday, September 6 and ending October 25. Guest facilitators will be on hand at some stops. more

Hilton School District gets two records management grants
According to Hilton Central School District Superintendent of Schools David Dimbleby, the district has received two Local Government Records Management Improvement Fund Grants (LGRMIF) in the amount of $28,387 from the New York State Archives. more

'Soaring to New Heights Award' given to freshman
Holley student Jessica Laudico, who will be a freshman this year, was the recipient of June's "Soaring to New Heights Award." She accepted her certificate at the Holley Board of Education meeting on August 28. more

Spencerport school tax rate stays the same
For the second year in a row, property owners in the Spencerport Central School District will see a zero percent tax rate increase in their school tax bills. more

WAVE Swim Club seeks members
WAVE Swim Club is welcoming new swimmers for the upcoming season, which begins on September 11 and runs through the end of April. The club will host informational nights on Monday, September 11 and Wednesday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Spencerport High School Pool, and on Thursday, September 14 and Friday, September 22 at 5:30 p.m. at Churchville-Chili High School Pool. more
