Brockport considers cluster housing zoning
Builder Don Hibsch appeared before the Brockport Village Board on November 20 to explain his general concept for cluster housing on 22 acres of former Northrup farm land adjacent to the Havenwood subdivision. Cluster housing zoning does not currently exist within the village, trustees would have to create a law allowing it before the project could move forward. more

HEAP funding totals higher for Monroe County
Monroe County expects to receive more than $9.07 million from New York state for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). HEAP provides needed energy assistance for low-income households and is an ongoing program. more

Hill School students learn about Veteran's Day
Pete Barber spoke of his days as a gunner aboard a B-24 Liberator during World War II. Barber and other area veterans recently shared stories of their service in the armed forces, the meaning of Veteran's Day and the importance of remembering veterans on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month with students at the Brockport Hill Elementary School. more

MCC receives $154,000 to grow area businesses
Monroe Community College has received a $154,000 workforce development grant from the State University of New York to help three area businesses grow or retain jobs through training. MCC received the grant as part of SUNY's effort to distribute $2 million in training funds among all 30 of the state's community colleges. more

Meetings on Pre-K andfull-day kindergarten planned in Hilton district
The Hilton School District has convened two committees studying the current research and feasibility of establishing either or both universal pre-kindergarten and full-day kindergarten sometime in the future. Both committees have scheduled public meetings at which parents and the community are invited to offer their comments and suggestions. more

New golf team in Hilton
The snow started falling in western New York last week and the temperature doesn't have one thinking about warm weather sports, but a Hilton resident is thinking about golf. Joe Rizzo is attempting to start a golf team for Hilton's Merton Williams Middle School students. "We tried last year, but we had no luck finding a golf course, a teacher or enough students to play; but we think it was due to a lack of publicity." more
