Golisano gives Roberts Wesleyan $5 M for new library
Roberts Wesleyan College has received a $5 million personal gift - the largest in the college's 135-year history - from Rochester businessman B. Thomas Golisano. The college will use the funds to construct the B. Thomas Golisano Library and Information Resource Center, a 50,000 square foot facility "combining the warmth of a traditional library with state-of-the-art technological access," said Roberts Wesleyan President William C. Crothers. more

Ogden appoints new assessor
The Ogden Town Board has appointed Robert Criddle as assessor for the Town of Ogden, effective October 1, with a term to expire September 30, 2006, according to Ogden Supervisor Gay Lenhard. more

Oxford demolition pushed to October 29
The demolition of five houses on Oxford Street in the Village of Brockport has been delayed until October 29. Contractors have needed more time than originally projected to remove asbestos before demolition, according to village environmental consultant Ken Pike. more

Following his successful bid in the September primary, for a space on the November ballot, Town of Clarendon's Acting Town Supervisor Richard Moy is running unopposed. more

Passport services come to town halls
New customer service enhancements to the County Clerk Mobile Units will bring passport service to 10 town halls across Monroe County. Customers will now be able to apply for a United States Passport, and for an extra fee have their passport photos taken, at town halls ser-viced by the Monroe County Clerk's Mobile Units. more

New York State Assemblyman Charlie Nesbitt (R, C-Albion) urged the State Assembly to pass his election reform bill that would help safeguard the voting rights of America's military personnel serving abroad and protecting the nation in wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. more

Essay contest for senior citizens seeks bus travel stories
"A Trip to Remember" essay contest seeks stories from seniors (55 and older). This contest rewards the best stories about travelling by Greyhound bus, and entries for groups may only be submitted through senior centers. The contest is sponsored jointly by Greyhound Lines and The National Council on Aging. more

Kendall moves into first
Kendall's girl's soccer team defeated Holley 4-1 October 11 to improve their record to 9-1 in league play and first place with a little over a week left in the regular season. more

Pricola breaks up shutout
Senior Jamie Pricola scored a goal in the final minute of the game as Brockport averted a shutout in a 4-1 loss to Gates Chili October 9. more

Saints on a roll
The Churchville-Chili Saints boy's soccer team won their sixth consecutive game by downing Spencerport 3-1 October 10. more

Wall of defense
Churchville-Chili native Lyndsay Wall is doing what she loves and, though a junior in high school, she doesn't have to attend classes. Every morning from 9 to 11 a.m., Wall and her teammates from the U.S. Women's Olympic Hockey Team tryouts hit the ice for practice. Three days a week, it's off to the weight room for conditioning. Oh, and about class, "I take my classes over the Internet. The teachers back at school have put everything on computer for me so I can live my dream." more
