Holley voters to have choices this year
In the last village election, 45 out of the villages 1,800 residents turned out to cast their ballot. This year, with contested races for both the mayoral and trustee seats, the turnout may be higher. more

Chemical-free lawn care workshop offered in Parma
The Town of Parma, in cooperation with Cornell Cooperative Extension, is hosting a workshop at the Town Hall, 1300 Hilton Parma Corners Road on April 13 at 10 a.m. for residents who are interested in lawn care that minimizes fertilizers and pesticides. Experts from Great Lawns/Great Lakes program will be the presenters for this program. more
Dog Obedience classes to be held in Spencerport
Spencerport Continuing Education is offering dog obedience classes on Tuesday nights this spring. Level One, for puppies 16 weeks to 8 months, will be held from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Level Two, for dogs 8 months and older, will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Proof of vaccinations is required. more
Dramatic portrayal of The Last Supper at Gates church
Trinity Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 761 Elmgrove Road in Gates, will present a reenactment of The Last Supper when Jesus and His 12 disciples shared a final meal before Jesus was led away to be crucified. more
Falcon returns to nest on city building
Mariah, the female falcon that has lived atop the Eastman Kodak office building in Rochester for the last several years, has returned. In celebration, the site and cameras have been activated and can be seen at www.kodak.com. Check the site for new features and await the return of the male, Cabot-Sirroco.

Hilton-Parma Seniors plan trip
The Hilton-Parma Seniors have scheduled their first trip of the season on Friday, April 26 to Casino Niagara in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Included in this trip is round-trip transportation, driver gratuity, five hours of time at Casino Niagara, and the current casino bonus. There will be an "on your own" dinner stop at Old Country Buffet in Niagara Falls en route home. more

The Buffalo Bison Youth Hockey Association will be hosting the NYS Amateur Hockey Association's Girls Under-15 Tier 1 State Championship Tournament. The event is being held at the Dann Memorial Rink at the Nichols School (Buffalo) on March 15 through 17. more
Golden Eagles in Sweet Sixteen
The Brockport Golden Eagles mens basketball team advanced to the NCAA Division III Sweet Sixteen for the second year in a row and fifth time in school history with an 80-61 victory on their home court in second round action March 2. more
Holding hat trick leads Blue Devils
Senior Dan Holding scored a goal in each period - two unassisted - to lead the Brockport Blue Devils to a 7-2 win over Shaker-Colonie in the state quarterfinals in high school hockey. more
Local youth football program expanding
Western New York Pop Warner is actively recruiting existing, organized football programs to join WNY Pop Warner. Presently there are 13 teams in the local/regional chapter of this National Youth Sports Program. more
Olympic Gold Medal athlete to host volleyball clinic
Gold-medal winning Olympic athlete Dain Blanton will host a volleyball clinic for local youth Saturday, March 23, 2002 at Nazareth College's Otto Shults Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The clinic is open to the public for a donation to Special Olympics Monroe County. more
Patalano, Saints win sectional title
After 26 lead changes, the game was tied with 2:34 left to play in regulation. Churchville-Chili didnt allow another point to be scored against them from that point forward as they upset top-seeded Fairport 55-48 in Class AA girls basketball semi-final action at SUNY Brockport. The win avenges the Saints' loss to the Red Raiders in last seasons state tournament qualifier. more

An information meeting about Pop Warner football and cheerleading in Orleans County, especially Kendall/Carlton area, will be held Thursday, March 21 at 7 p.m. at the Kendall Town Hall. more
Saints boys lose in semi-finals
"Give them credit - they played like they wanted it more than us." Churchville-Chili head coach Rob McCoy was disappointed after a 57-45 loss to Gates Chili in the Class AA semi-final round of the sectional boys basketball playoffs. more
Team qualifies for award
The Spencerport varsity hockey team qualified for the NYSPHSAA Team Scholar Athlete Award during the Winter 2001-2002 season. more
